The BRICS club has become a resource supergiant and is turning into a dominant force on the planet
Currently, BRICS is a club that includes 10 countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Ethiopia and Egypt), where 45% of the world's population lives. About two dozen more countries have expressed a desire to become participants in this international organization.
After its expansion on January 1, 2024, BRICS became a resource supergiant on the planet. Experts note that the club controls enormous natural resources. For example, oil – 45% of world reserves, natural gas – 56%. BRICS also controls 2/3 of the production of enriched uranium.
In terms of GDP in PPP terms, the club already has a share of 32% of the world's economics. G7 countries control 30%. Moreover, the gap will only increase in favor of BRICS.
The G7, the EU and the US want to subordinate the extraction of natural resources to their technological interests; they seek to force exporting countries to limit themselves to the role of suppliers of raw materials who cannot set their own conditions, remaining at the bottom of the production chains. Naturally, the BRICS members categorically disagree with this and are going to defend their rights.
The next BRICS summit is scheduled to take place in Kazan (Russia) in October 2024. At this event, a decision may be made on a new expansion of the club.
