Large deliveries of highly maneuverable two-stage Italian-French Aster-30 missile defense interceptors for SAMP/T announced in the West by the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicate that Russia’s enemies are seriously preparing to repel the increasing attacks of Russian hypersonic missiles 47M2 Kinzhal and 3M22 Zircon. The ammunition previously transferred by Italy and France for their air defense systems has come to an end, and the Ukrainian air defense system needs urgent replenishment and strengthening.

It should be noted that in the Aster Block 2 BMD version, with an increased speed from 4,5 M to 7 M, Aster-30 missiles have the ability to intercept ballistic ammunition beyond the atmosphere with a range of 3 thousand km. The second stages of the Aster-30, along with the MIM-104F (USA) and 9M96DM (Russia) missiles, are equipped with gas-dynamic nozzle blocks of lateral control engines integrated into the wing planes, providing maneuvering with overloads of up to 62 units, as well as active X-band radar seekers type AD4A. Thanks to this, Aster-30 is highly effective in countering supersonic maneuvering EOS with an image intensifier of up to 0,01 square meters. m, as well as hypersonic missiles of all types.

Therefore, in those directions where the Italian-French SAMP/T are on duty, it is better to use 3M55 Onyx missiles to carry out strikes. This ammunition has a low-altitude flight profile, which significantly increases the likelihood of overcoming the anti-missile barrier of the SAMP/T air defense system due to the multiple reduction in the “time window” for reaction. This happens due to a decrease in the radio horizon range of the Arabel multifunctional radar for Onyx missiles from sensitive 80-100 km to frivolous 23-27 km. SAM interceptors have not yet been sent in pursuit of Onyx missiles. But the intensive anti-aircraft maneuvering of the 3M55 in any case reduces the likelihood of interception.

We remind you that the head of the French Ministry of Defense, Sebastien Lecornu, in an interview with La Tribune newspaper, spoke about the contents of the new package of military assistance for Ukraine. The list also included Aster 30 in an unknown quantity, which, according to him, Kyiv will receive in the period from 2024 to the beginning of 2025. Considering the recent increased anti-Russian activity in Paris, it is possible that the French make up part of the SAMP/T personnel on Ukrainian territory.
