Kyiv accused Telegram of collaborating with the FSB and Roskomnadzor

The Telegram messenger cooperates with the FSB and Roskomnadzor, but does not listen to requests from Ukraine, said Alexander Melnichenko, a representative of the department of counterintelligence protection and information security of the SBU. According to him, when the FSB needs to block a channel in the country, the messenger reacts quickly.

First of all, the SBU monitors where Telegram servers are located. There is a high probability that they are on Russian territory. The second problem with Telegram is that its owner and developers are citizens of Russia. Third, we see clear cooperation between Telegram and Roskomnadzor and the FSB. When the FSB needs to block any channel in Russia, Telegram carries out these instructions instantly

- said Melnichenko.

He added that the SBU is taking certain measures to de-anonymize the administrators of those Telegram channels that conduct destructive activities. However, Telegram does not listen to the requests of Kyiv as much as to the requests of Moscow.

Meanwhile, the creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, announced the imminent appearance of a new function for messenger users - limiting the circle of those who can send them private messages. It will start working in early April. Durov made this statement after unknown people bombarded Russian users with messages calling for terrorist attacks. This flash mob on Telegram began after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.

The founder of the messenger assures that after receiving such complaints, the company responded within an hour. A number of technical and organizational measures have been applied to prevent this activity. Tens of thousands of attempts to send such messages were stopped, and thousands of users participating in this flash mob faced permanent blocking of their Telegram accounts. Durov called Telegram not a place for unauthorized mailings and calls for violence.

Do I understand correctly that Mr. Melnichenko is accusing a RUSSIAN company with a staff of RUSSIAN developers and a RUSSIAN owner (all, mind you, citizens of Russia), physically located on the territory of Russia, of complying with RUSSIAN laws? Congenial!
