It is currently unclear who is behind the airbase, but one possibility is the UAE, which formerly controlled the island as part of the Arab coalition against the Houthis, and satellite photos show "I love the United Arab Emirates" written on the ground.

If the information from American journalists is correct, it is logical to assume that the construction of the runway is being carried out as part of the operation of the new coalition against the Ansar Allah group.
