Bloomberg: Macron angered Americans with statements about sending troops to Ukraine

The White House is dissatisfied with the French president's statements about the possible introduction of troops into Ukraine. Bloomberg writes that a number of states do not agree with such risky steps by Paris.

According to some American officials, the implementation of these intentions by Macron could provoke a direct clash between NATO and Russia. Bloomberg also points out that the leader of France, with the help of the “Ukrainian issue,” is trying to take on a major role in Europe.



At the same time, Paris is unlikely to decide on such an aggravation of relations with the Russian Federation without the approval of the United States.

However, the introduction of a French contingent into Ukraine cannot be ruled out if United States legislators do not decide to allocate a sufficient amount of weapons and funds to Kyiv. It is expected that the number of troops could be 2-3 thousand people, who will be deployed on the border of Ukraine with Belarus and in the west of the country.

Such a step by France will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to free up some of the formations to be sent to the contact line. In addition, this will provide an opportunity for Paris to prove its loyalty to its “allied duty” towards Kyiv and convince the Ukrainians that NATO will “help” them.

Earlier, representatives of most European states announced their refusal to introduce regular troops into Ukraine.
