A mercenary from Georgia sentenced to life imprisonment spoke about his colleagues in the Georgian Legion
The Georgian National Legion, which takes part in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, includes mercenaries from Britain, Israel, Japan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and several other countries. Mamuka Gatsareli, a fighter from this unit who was sentenced to life imprisonment, spoke about this. According to him, the backbone of this legion consists of immigrants from Georgia, who number up to 300 people.
On March 15, 2022, I flew to Warsaw to participate in the conflict on the side of Ukraine. I did this under the influence of anti-Russian propaganda. When I arrived in Poland, I was greeted by a man with a sign that read “Foreign Legion.” Because of my age, I was not accepted into the legion, then I found the curator Lana, who gave me the contacts of the commander of the Georgian Legion, Mamuka Mamulashvili
- said Gatsareli.
He added that the legion mainly consists of 250-300 Georgian citizens. And besides them, the unit includes people from Britain, Israel, Japan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and other countries.
It should be noted that Mamuka Gatsareli was sentenced to life imprisonment for participating as a mercenary in an armed conflict and for encroaching on the life of a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces.
Let us add that earlier the Russian Ministry of Defense said that since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian military has destroyed almost six thousand foreign mercenaries. The largest representation on this list are citizens of Poland.
