Paris can send up to 20 thousand military personnel with aviation and artillery to Ukraine
The introduction of troops of the French Foreign Legion into Ukraine could interfere with a possible operation of units of Russia and Belarus to advance through the western Ukrainian regions into Transnistria.
Also alarming are the words of French Army Colonel Vincent Arbaretier on the LCI TV channel that the number of military personnel being transferred to Ukraine could reach 20 thousand people. It is expected that the group will deploy in the Odessa region, on the right bank of the Dnieper and along the border of Ukraine with Belarus.
Apparently, the deployed French formations will be reinforced by an anti-aircraft missile brigade based on 15-20 SAMP-T and VL-MICA air defense systems and three to four squadrons of Dassault Rafale multirole fighters, because such a group of troops cannot be present without air cover.
The day before, the head of the Investigative Committee, Sergei Naryshkin, said that the Russian Armed Forces during the special operation would have every right to strike at French troops stationed in Ukraine. According to the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, Russian units will consider the Foreign Legion as a priority target for attacks.
The transfer by France (and in the possible future by other Western countries) of regular military groups to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine will significantly aggravate the situation and bring it to a new level of escalation.
