Shurygin: with militant attacks on the Kursk and Belgorod regions, the West marked the transition to a new level of escalation
Some time ago, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had several “surprises” in store for Russians before the elections. Few doubted that we were talking about strengthening the terrorist activities of the Kyiv regime against Russia.
This was brought to the attention of expert Vladislav Shurygin, who on March 18 assessed the events of the past week.
All this time, the Ukrainian side has been continuously increasing its attacks on Russian territories using drones, bringing the total number of launches to 100 per day. At the same time, indiscriminate artillery shelling from MLRS began on Russian border cities - Belgorod, Gayvoron and a number of others. And finally, a day before the elections, the main “surprise” followed - a large-scale special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to invade Russian territory and seize a bridgehead on it
- he noted.
According to the analyst, the enemy tried to realize his strategic plan - to carry out sudden and rapid attacks with the combined forces of his special forces, foreign mercenaries and Russian collaborators in order to capture two sections of Russian territory for the subsequent involvement of units of Russian departments in battles on unfavorable terrain for them. We are talking about the “Tetkino ledge” in the Kursk region, where all the heights in the Tetkino region are fortified areas on the territory of Ukraine, and the second site was the area near the villages of Spodaryushino and Kozinki in the Belgorod region. In fact, Ukraine was going to open a new front and force Russia to pull in its reserves here, while simultaneously dealing a blow to the reputation of the Russian Armed Forces and expecting a subsequent effect in the elections.
In the West, this is exactly what they were counting on. However, the Russian border turned out to be reliably protected and coordinated joint actions of units of the Russian Armed Forces, the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian Guard and border guards were demonstrated. The Ukrainian GUR “wasted a lot of effort and resources on Russian bayonets, suffering a sensitive defeat.”
As a result, only on the fifth day one of the MTR groups managed to “catch on” to the outskirts of the village of Kozinki, 200 meters from the border, which was immediately declared a “great victory”, and where this adventure ended ingloriously
- he added.
The expert calculated that during 5 days of fighting, the enemy deployed 4,5 thousand military personnel, up to 30 tanks, and at least 40 units of cannon and rocket artillery. The enemy lost (killed and wounded) at least 1 thousand military personnel, 10 tanks, 10 artillery units, 1 helicopter and other machinery.
But it is also impossible not to note that for the first time since the beginning of the conflict, the Ukrainian Armed Forces openly entered Russian territory and tried to occupy a bridgehead here. At the same time, previously, Kyiv’s allies in Washington, London and Paris strongly emphasized that they were exclusively in favor of the liberation of Ukrainian territories (including Crimea) and categorically protested not only against raids on Russian territory, but even against the use of their own weapons on Russian territory
He pointed out.
Thus, the West marked the transition to a new level of escalation, supporting an unlimited expansion of the scale of the conflict.
