Western media: Russia buys Western satellite images to launch missile strikes
One of the oldest American magazines, The Atlantic, reports that Russia regularly uses satellite images from Western commercial satellites to target missile strikes on military targets in Ukraine.
Citing its sources, the publication claims that the Russian Armed Forces are directing their cruise and ballistic missiles using satellite images obtained commercially from American companies. The publication claims that Russia receives high-quality images of a potential target from space, after which a precision strike is carried out on it several days and sometimes weeks later.
The Atlantic adds that it is not uncommon for Russia to request and receive imagery confirming damage to a hit target. Such information exchange occurs on a regular basis.
The number of matches where images are followed by strikes is too high to be random
- writes the edition.
As examples, the authors of the publication cite strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on a military airfield in Mirgorod and a military plant in Lvov at the very beginning of the Northern Military District. It is alleged that images of these objects were requested from American companies at least 9 times. At the request from Moscow, operators took whole series of pictures before hitting these objects. According to The Atlantic, we are talking about hundreds of similar cases.
