NYT: construction of a railway through Iran will finally free Russia from Western sanctions

16

The Russian Federation is successfully circumventing Western sanctions by developing new routes for trade with the Global South. The American newspaper The New York Times writes about this. The publication pays special attention to the project, the implementation of which will begin this year. We are talking about the construction of a railway through Iran. This transport artery will mark Russia’s final turn away from the West.

The publication notes that the implementation of the project worth $1,7 billion will be the last link of the route between the Russian Federation and Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf. This will provide Moscow with easy access to shopping centers such as Mumbai.

The international transport corridor “North-South” will become the most important factor for ensuring and accelerating the flow of imports into the Russian Federation, and will also significantly simplify the export of Russian natural resources, which are of critical importance for economics country

- says the publication.

Developing his idea, the author of the material notes that the corridor will complement Russia’s trade routes in the direction of China and India, which are currently its largest trading partners. He recalls that in 2023 the volume of trade between the Russian Federation and both countries has already exceeded the pre-war volume of trade with the EU.

Note that completion of the railway through Iran is scheduled for 2028. Thus, the total length of the transport corridor will be 7200 kilometers. The publication emphasizes that this route will be outside the zone of Western sanctions.

You might think that Iran itself is not under Western sanctions laughing

(Kirill) What is the essence of your comment, or just say something. Iran, as a transit route to southern Asia and eastern Africa, was needed for a long time, but the Anglo-Saxons prevented it in every possible way. Now they themselves, without calculating, pushed, for which I am grateful. The fact that European countries have cut themselves off from Russian sources is beginning to understand their stupidity, but pride does not allow them to immediately admit their short-sightedness. As in the song: “you lose something, you find something,” sometimes you find more, especially in the future, as in this case.

What is the point of your meaningless answer?

If you don't understand, that's your problem.

And then Iran will keep its fingers at our throat...

(Andrey) More provocation than stupidity in the statement. The road is also important for Iran; they will not block their own throat.

Bravado. Open the map and see what territories the railway will pass through. Consider Azerbaijan as Türkiye (NATO). The United States will give the command and the railway from Iran will stop; the same fate awaits the railway through Central Asia. It was in the USSR that the railway route to Iran was safe. Remember that the Russian Federation is only a fragment of a once great country called the USSR.

Well, let's sit and cry that we are a fragment. And do nothing. Only here is a fragment of one-seventh of the land mass.

      USA will give command

You seem to have remained in the twentieth century. Today, people in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, North Korea, Venezuela, even in Africa did not care about instructions from the United States. Washington can only command its European vassals, who are having a hard time today!

It's up to you. But in reality everything looks different.

A great and necessary project. If only we could build a railway road to the north and Kamchatka!

Of course, Russia needs the project, but mainly Russia will have to pay for it. It seems that one should not expect any obstacles from Azerbaijan, at least while Aliyev is at the helm

Handsome guys! The West imposed sanctions on undesirable countries, which, having united economically, these countries will exceed the capabilities of the West and the United States many times over..

This road is so obvious that when you look at the map you are simply perplexed - why has it not been built yet?

Digging a canal from the Caspian Sea to the Indian Ocean is too time-consuming and expensive. The piece of iron is quite inexpensive, relatively fast and the loads will travel at a good speed. There are almost zero environmental consequences. We are going the right way, comrades! This road will provide cargo for/to Europe, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, China, etc.
