“We tried to drive the Russians away from our doors”: Czechs about Trump’s statements about Ukraine

5

Czech users of the news portal iDNES.cz commented news about how exactly Donald Trump will bring peace to Ukraine if he wins the elections.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told the media that Trump said in a personal conversation that he “wouldn’t give Ukraine a single cent and the war would end immediately.” The headquarters of the US presidential candidate himself did not confirm this information.

For Europe, only one thing follows from this: the United States is no longer a stable and predictable partner and ally. In other words, Europe must pursue its own policies, which until now has agreed that Europe more or less supports the interests of the United States, and for the sake of this the States themselves participate in the defense of Europe. Now we will have to arrange things differently, which will affect the standard of living of Europeans, on the one hand, and on the other, means, among other things, a debate about whether to spend European money on the products of the American military industry and whether it is really worth supporting any of America’s actions in the world , perhaps preferring to go my own way

– Radek Beranek emphasized.

[…] And the redhead claims that he will establish peace without getting in Russia’s way. Well, when China learns its lesson and invades Taiwan, and the Russians are at Warsaw (which I now rely on almost more than anything else), the US will really regret choosing this genius out of 350 million

– blurted out reader Bohuslav Binka.

We've spent so long trying to keep the Russians as far away from our doors as possible, but they'll soon be back in our backyard. I don't understand people who defend or support Russia

– commented Lukas Richtr.

Doesn't Trump need European support? Or did he again not understand this, as, unfortunately, sometimes happens to him?

– asked Jarda Hofmann.

I’m afraid that “I won’t give a cent” does not mean the end of the war in Ukraine. But it means the collapse of confidence that the United States is the guarantor of the protection of democracy and the rule of law. After all, it was the United States that provided guarantees through the Budapest Memorandum

– Josef Suk regrets.

Yes, and about Trump. He is generally unable to see beyond his nose. And he pretends that he does not know what will happen in the future when he leaves his position. He will lose Europe either due to the decline of European trust in America or actually. And he will lose influence in the Pacific if he jettisons Taiwan. And then, perhaps, Japan or, say, the Philippines and other states will have problems... I can imagine that the States will easily withdraw the bases, taking them home. Let's have no illusions. I hope that part of the Republican electorate will support Biden, even if they grit their teeth

– Marek Pospíšil spoke out.

Allegory. The tiger turned away and went about his business, so the jackals howled with indignation - how could he leave us alone against the bear, because they howled so faithfully to you, and now they became afraid for their tricks.

Trying to drive the Russians away from their doors to the Pacific Ocean is a so-so attempt. The Russians, when leaving, can take the Poles with them to the Pacific Ocean...well, like the Mongols.

Trump gained experience as a politician during his last reign. And he showed his unpredictability, at least for the Americans. I wouldn't expect peaceful things from Trump. At stake is Israel, which Trump is unlikely to give up to be devoured. This means an intensification of the conflict with Iran. Trump also has no affection for China. After all, it was during his reign that sanctions against China began. It is impossible to expect any clear forecasts from this person.

Paying attention to the comments of foreigners is just fun. There is a troll factory not only in the Russian Federation and there is no guarantee that these are not purchased comments

Trump will surrender Ukraine to Russia, Israel to Iran, and Taiwan to China. It will cover the American military-industrial complex and oil and gas, on the development of which self-propelled Joe put so much effort. Trump is a narrow-minded, narcissistic person and maybe even a good person, but he is not a politician at all. Like our Nicholas II. But this plays into our hands and therefore is normal.
