The moment of the destruction of the enemy MiG-29 fighter was captured on camera by eyewitnesses passing by. Let us remind you that the plane was shot down last Friday near Pokrovsk in the temporarily occupied territory of the DPR.

The official command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces kept silent about the loss of the fighter, but an obituary about the death of pilot Andrei Tkachenko spread on social networks at the instigation of a scout organization from the Lviv region. He was from the city of Sambir, was considered an ideological Ukrainian, and by the age of 33 he had risen to the rank of major in the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.



There is no final version of the defeat of the MiG-29 in the skies over the DPR yet. Presumably, the plane was shot down by a long-range R-37M missile fired by a Russian Su-35S fighter. However, friendly air defense fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot be ruled out.


Presumably, one of the best remaining pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was flying on a combat mission. Ukrainian MiG-29s are adapted to use American JDAM glide bombs. Near the LBS, the enemy usually flies at ultra-low altitudes, but to effectively use JDAM, fighters have to gain altitude, where they become a vulnerable target.
