Russian Aerospace Forces used a new D-30SN air bomb against the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Ukrainian information resources report that the Russian Aerospace Forces recently used a new aerial bomb against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As evidence, photographs of the debris of this ammunition were published on the Internet.

The incident was brought to the attention of retired Russian military pilot, and now blogger and expert Ilya Tumanov, who on March 9 commented on the situation in his Telegram channel Fighterbomber.

Russian Aerospace Forces used a new D-30SN air bomb against the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Ukrainians appreciated our new product on the battlefield. This is UMPB D-30SN, which stands for Universal Interspecific Glide Ammunition 30 cm caliber

- the expert noted.

He explained that the UMPB D-30SN is actually a gliding bomb, the entire contents of which (equipment, wings and warhead) are placed in a “pipe” of a certain diameter.

Well, since this ammunition was called “interspecific”, it is clear that it can be launched not only by aviation, but also by MLRS of the Tornado-S type. In case of application from the ground, a jet engine is added to it. Aviation currently uses UMPB without an engine, but most likely this shortcoming will be corrected in the near future

– the blogger pointed out.

In his opinion, given the degree of resonance in the Ukrainian media and near-war publics, testing of the new Russian ammunition in real combat conditions is quite successful.

Again, everything is “written on the water with a pitchfork”! Why does M in the abbreviation UMPB mean “interspecific” and not “module”? In order to “boldly” declare about “interspecies” you must have a link to an accurate(!) source of information! And then...one ba...that is, a blogger said! We need additional time to clarify the information...then we’ll talk about the bonbu! And now everyone on the Internet has rushed to “comment” on the new product; incl. and those who understand military affairs like a “pig in oranges”! Many people understand just the message about the presence of an engine to the extent of their “bewilderment”!

Or “module” or most likely “modified”, “small-sized”
"Interspecies" wassat only citizen journalists can come up with something like this

Large debris. Landed softly. The body was probably composite, then the Ukrainian metalworkers broke off the trophy. The comment is over.

I'm especially pleased with the label.

Somehow the “new bomb” looks too well preserved after use. Reminds me of the situation when Klitschko passed off destroyed sewer pipes as downed Daggers.

is undergoing testing in combat conditions... should they give us the full technical specifications, maybe some drawings with visualization?

New weapons must be tested in such a way as to deprive the enemy of the opportunity to disassemble the ammunition piece by piece, otherwise our secrets will be owned by everyone without getting hit, and this is not good.

...but NATO has told everyone that Russia is a 3rd world country; how are they producing these items?

Is this most universal projectile really necessary? It is limited in diameter, length and weight, otherwise you simply cannot put it in the MLRS. But at the same time, a jet aircraft can lift a much larger combat mass than this universal unit weighs. Doesn't this mean that planes will fly half empty? The same FAB 500 has a diameter of 450mm, and FAB 1500 has a diameter of 650mm.

The Su-34 has 12 bomb hangers. I don’t know how many bombs they can carry at the same time, but even if FAB 12 is installed on all 500 guides, even this will not exhaust even half of the maximum combat weight. And here it is proposed, for the sake of versatility, to reduce the mass of the explosive even further. IMHO, it's kind of stupid.

(Kuramori Reika) Absolutely correct remark, a plane flight is an expensive pleasure, and you shouldn’t waste it on small change. For aviation, heavier shells are used, which is beyond the capabilities of others... In such air strikes on a target, it is better to overdo it than to undershoot...

Is this most universal projectile really necessary?

      - no, now revolver-type suspensions are installed in bomb bays, and not just one ammunition is installed in the ammunition compartment, but several, this increases the efficiency of sorties.

And this new ammunition does not contain any secrets? - the fragments are too large - the ammunition did not explode, but simply fell apart? A lot of unknowns.

Judging by the photo, it doesn’t really explode. Unless they forgot to report something there.
