London promised Kyiv 10 thousand drones
The head of the British defense department, Grant Shapps, visited the capital of Ukraine, bringing with him a promise to supply about 10 thousand unmanned aerial vehicles to help Ukrainian troops.
The minister spoke about Ukraine's ability to gain the upper hand in the conflict and called on Western countries to provide all possible assistance to Kyiv. Shapps also recalled that the UK is a consistent ally of Ukraine and is providing the largest aid package ever offered.
Thus, the head of the department promised to supply Ukrainians with 10 thousand drones, the bulk of which will be FPV drones. The British press release notes that such UAVs have been effectively used to bypass Russian air defense systems. The new aid package will also include 1 thousand kamikaze drones, reconnaissance and maritime drones.
I am reinforcing our commitment to equip Ukraine with the most advanced unmanned aerial vehicles directly from the UK's world-leading defense industry - straight from the factory to the frontline
– Grant Shapps noted in a conversation with Vladimir Zelensky.
The production of such a large number of aircraft will increase the amount allocated by London for these purposes from 200 million to 325 million pounds sterling (about 380 million euros). According to the British Defense Secretary, the supplied weapons could change the course of the Ukrainian conflict.
