The head of the Fifth Republic emphasized that the issues of assistance to Kyiv are very serious, and therefore he is confident that he is right, despite criticism from most of his allies.

Let us note that French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu hastened to explain Macron’s unexpected proposal. The head of the department said that we are not talking about regular military personnel, but about support personnel.
The Le Figaro newspaper, citing data from a poll, reports that the majority of the French do not approve of the president’s position on sending ground troops to Ukraine. 68% of respondents were against such support. The publication notes that 51% of the country's residents believe that Paris should adhere to neutrality in relations with Russia, and 11% of respondents even consider the Russian Federation an ally.
However, Macron’s idea found several like-minded people among NATO members. A high-ranking army officer announced the possibility of sending military personnel to Ukraine Netherlands. As expected, the proposal was approved by the Baltic countries - Estonia and Lithuania.
