The European Commission called on Kyiv to look for markets for Ukrainian grain outside Europe
European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski called on the Ukrainian authorities to “embrace the position” of European farmers and organize grain sales to third countries. Thus, the EC decided to meet the farmers striking throughout the European Union halfway.
Voitsekhovsky emphasized that the EU is ready to meet Kyiv halfway in the implementation of a scheme for the export of Ukrainian grain to third countries in conditions of unsafe navigation in the Black Sea after the completion of the grain deal. However, all grain imported from Ukraine must be re-exported to other markets.
Let us remind you that the protests of Polish farmers against the export of cheap Ukrainian grain have not subsided since the beginning of this year. Farmers block borders, preventing trucks from entering the territory of a neighboring country, and recently they have resorted to outright sabotage, pouring grain from the wagons onto the ground and in every possible way obstructing the movement of transport.
It is worth noting that with this call, the European Commission made concessions to farmers on only one issue. Meanwhile, the protests of farmers are flaring up with renewed vigor, sometimes turning into direct clashes with the security forces. Thus, in the capital of European democracy, Brussels, tractor drivers demolished police barriers.
Farmers reasonably demand that the governments of their countries pay more attention to internal problems, including issues of supporting agriculture, instead of providing multi-billion dollar aid to Ukraine.
