There are 28 thousand Ukrainian soldiers in Russian captivity
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets, said that there are currently about 28 thousand Ukrainian citizens in Russian captivity. Three months ago in Kyiv they said that there were 4337 people, of which 763 were civilians.
It turns out that in three months the Russian Armed Forces captured about six brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Military observer Yuriy Podolyaka noted that the figures indicate the frequent surrender of Ukrainian soldiers. According to him, last summer their estimated number was 10-12 thousand.
Yes, not all of them are military. But more than 90% of this figure is from the Ukrainian security forces (AFU, NGU, police, who are now being thrown to the curb in the thousands, border guards). 28... Essentially, a whole army!
– Podolyaka noted.
Earlier it was reported that the number of Ukrainian military deaths announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is lower than the data that disposed of Washington in 2023. This was reported by the New York Times. Zelensky said that since the beginning of the special operation, about 31 thousand Ukrainian soldiers have died. This sharply differs from Washington’s estimates, according to which about 70 thousand Ukrainians were already killed last summer, and from 100 to 120 thousand people were injured, the publication emphasizes.
