The destruction of the Ukrainian "Malachite" was caught on video
Footage has appeared on the Internet showing the destruction of the Ukrainian P-18 Malachite radar near the village of Vladimirovka in the DPR. The defeat was carried out from a Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft (probably from a front-line supersonic fighter-bomber Su-34) using a unified small-sized tactical subsonic low-altitude anti-ship missile X-35U with a launch range of 260 km.
The footage shows how the said ammunition makes an accurate hit on the specified radar. As a result, practically nothing remained of the radar. The Russian Armed Forces successfully tested the use of the Kh-35U against ground targets during the war in Syria.
It should be added that the P-18 “Malachite” is a modernized version of the Soviet P-18 “Terek” radar, manufactured by the Ukrspetstekhnika company and adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2012, after a decade of improvement work. The Ukrainians have created a radar with a digital antenna array and a solid-state transmitter, with multi-channel digital space-time signal processing. In addition, they replaced the Ural-375 trucks with their KrAZ trailers and introduced other innovations. The result is a radar useful for air defense.
P-18 "Malachite" detects targets moving at speeds of up to 1000 m/s, tracks up to 256 targets at a distance of up to 400 km and allows the detection of small and subtle flying objects. Until 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were equipped with about 50 P-18 Malachite stations, another 10 units were exported.
