Putin spoke about the support of Donbass

On December 20, 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a large annual press conference and answered many questions from journalists from around the world (about 1700 accredited). During the mentioned event, Roman Tsymbalyuk, journalist of the UNIAN Ukrainian agency, was asked questions, they related to the situation in the Donbass and the conditions for the exchange of prisoners.




Answering these questions, the Russian leader pointed out that it was Kiev that established the blockade of the region. In turn, Moscow has provided, continues to provide, and will continue to provide, humanitarian and other assistance and support to the civilians of Donbass.

We really provide humanitarian and other help and support, but only so that they are not completely crushed, eaten or torn. And we will do it further

According to Putin, attempts to solve political questions with the help of military force are doomed to failure and Kiev needs to be aware of this. He specified that Russia wants peace and prosperity throughout Ukraine, including the Donbas.

The President did not ignore not only humanitarian issues, he also touched upon tradeeconomic side of the relationship between Moscow and Kiev. He noted that Ukraine is an important trading partner of Russia. And this despite all the differences between the countries. Moreover, thanks to the “natural ties”, trade continues to grow.
