A specialized airliner based on the Tu-324 project may appear in Russia
It seems that another domestic airliner may join the Il-76, MS-21, Tu-214 and Superjet aircraft. Just last week it became known that Russia plans to revive the regional Tu-324 project. At the same time, according to some reports, Gazprom will finance it, and the new airliner will be produced under the Aurus brand.
In general, production of the Tu-324 should have started in the early 2000s, when the “old” Yak-40, which had exhausted its service life, would need replacement. Despite the difficult times, we even managed to allocate funds for the project and begin development.
As a result, the Tu-324 became the first domestic aircraft, the design of which took place in a digital environment. At the same time, despite the fact that as many as three modifications were designed - for 72, 52 and 19 passengers, the liner was never launched.
Later, the project was returned to more than once, but, probably, its time has come right now.
It is worth noting that the development will be carried out by the Gazprom company, which has already begun forming a design bureau. At the first stages, the Tu-324 project is planned to be used as a basis for creating the first specialized business jet in our country. It will be produced under the Aurus brand.
In this case, it is important that the above-mentioned company announced the addition of S-class and E-class sedans to its line of cars, and later an SUV. The latter should become much more accessible, and not only departments, but also private buyers will be able to purchase them.
It is likely that Aurus will use a similar principle in the case of the Tu-324, first releasing a premium specialized aircraft, and then, if the aircraft becomes in demand, it will launch mass production of its more affordable versions.
Regarding the power plant, it is reported that the revived aircraft will use the promising SM-100 engine. By the way, it was also not created from scratch, but is a continuation of the AI-222-25 project, which was produced by Ukrainian and Russian enterprises. It was precisely this that was planned to be installed on the Tu-324 at one time.
