The destruction of the Mi-24 helicopter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Rabotino was caught on video
On February 13, footage appeared on the Internet showing the moment when one of a pair of helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force was hit by a MANPADS in the Rabotino area in the Zaporozhye direction. Before this, Ukrainian Mi-8 and Mi-24 visited this area several times and fired unguided missiles at Russian positions from a nose-up position.
This time the Russians caught them and one rotorcraft was destroyed. It can be seen that both helicopters actively use countermeasures in the form of “heat traps” before turning, moving at an extremely low altitude. But the Mi-24 crew stopped shooting “heat traps after the turn” and was going to slip under the cover of the “deceptions” of the Mi-8 partner helicopter.
However, this attempt was unsuccessful; the Mi-24 was naturally shot down by the “welcoming team” (an air defense crew from the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces), which was waiting for the “guests”. It lights up and begins to fall to the ground. The crew was unable to make a soft landing, an explosion occurs, and everyone was probably killed. Trails from missiles fired from man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems by the Russians are also visible.
At the same time, the crew of the Mi-8 helicopter shot at the decoys all the way. He managed to get out of the affected area and went safely to his home airfield. Also, a confirming video of objective monitoring of the combat work of the air defense of the Dnepr group of troops of the Russian Armed Forces appeared on the Internet.
