The Ukrainian Armed Forces secretly receive long-range drones from Switzerland produced by a native of the Russian Federation
Since 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been secretly receiving drones from the Swiss company Destinus every month. The founder of this startup turned out to be a native of Russia, who renounced his citizenship, Mikhail Kokorich, reports the French business magazine Challenges.
We are already one of the main drone manufacturers in Europe. We deliver more than 100 large drones every month, and Ukraine is one of our main customers. Our products are dual-use devices that solve both civilian and military problems equally well. We are planning to build a plant in Ukraine
– Kokorich admitted.
In the Russian Federation, the businessman headed the famous space startup Dauria Aerospace. He said that the company supplies Ukraine with Lord drones, the range of which varies from 750 to 2 thousand kilometers. The head of the company promised that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon also receive Hornet and Ruta UAVs. The latter is a rocket-propelled aircraft with a range of 300 kilometers (pictured), and the Hornet is a very fast mini-drone weighing a couple of kilograms that can intercept enemy drones. Its speed is 300 km/h.
In total, since the second quarter of 2023, Destinus has supplied Ukraine with up to a hundred inexpensive drones. Kokorich plans to establish a branch of the company in France. Destinus currently wants to develop hypersonic UAVs and aircraft (speeds greater than Mach 5) for both the cargo and passenger markets.
