Skynex has an Oerlikon Mk3 rifled automatic cannon, the rate of fire of which is 1 thousand rounds per minute. It can be controlled remotely, firing projectiles with a programmable AHEAD detonation. Moreover, the complex itself can be mounted either on a truck base or be stationary. The radar responsible for detecting, tracking and identifying airborne threats typically operates at a range of 20-30 km, although this can vary depending on the radar configuration and target size.


Rheinmetall presented its Skynex only at the end of autumn 2021, and Ukraine is currently the only operator of this complex. It is not even in service with Germany itself.

    "Skynex" is, after all, just military equipment, and any equipment can be destroyed in a war. The article does not contain information about how exactly it was destroyed. Was it a mine explosion, a drone, an art. shell or ATGM?
    The bad thing is that our “friends” are actively developing and implementing means of combating UAVs, and we, as always, are behind everyone. But we have our own serious developments - there are optoelectronic fire detection and control devices, there is also a relatively cheap system for programmable remote detonation of ammunition, there are also small-sized dome electronic warfare systems. It would seem that you take these “cubes” and install them in the order of modernization on those mobile anti-aircraft systems that are in storage, but the most important thing is missing - the interest of those responsible persons who are responsible for arming the army. It’s easier for them to flash in front of the cameras on the Army 20 uniform... looking at samples of equipment that manufacturers are developing, than to give instructions to these same manufacturers - what, when and how much needs to be produced. From all this we have as many as 1 units of “Pantsir 160m” complexes. for the entire army. And I don’t know how many “Tunguska” and “Shilka” complexes are peacefully in storage (of course, if the reformers from the army did not sell them), of which tens of times more were produced in the USSR. And you begin to think in our country that the military is on its own, and the military-industrial complex on its own?
