The Russian Armed Forces destroyed the promising German anti-aircraft system Skynex
During a special operation, Russian troops hit the promising German Skynex anti-aircraft system, designed to combat drones and low-flying objects.
According to sources, Western allies sent 4 to 8 similar systems to the Ukrainians last year.
Skynex has an Oerlikon Mk3 rifled automatic cannon, the rate of fire of which is 1 thousand rounds per minute. It can be controlled remotely, firing projectiles with a programmable AHEAD detonation. Moreover, the complex itself can be mounted either on a truck base or be stationary. The radar responsible for detecting, tracking and identifying airborne threats typically operates at a range of 20-30 km, although this can vary depending on the radar configuration and target size.
Rheinmetall presented its Skynex only at the end of autumn 2021, and Ukraine is currently the only operator of this complex. It is not even in service with Germany itself.
