Nuclear submarines "Antey" of the Russian Navy are being re-equipped with new missiles

6

The Russian Navy continues the process of phased re-equipment of Project 949A/AM Antey SSGNs. During modernization, submarines are gradually removing outdated SM-225A inclined launchers for heavy 3M45 (P-700) Granit anti-ship missiles and replacing them with modern universal firing systems with transport and launch containers.

The number of missiles in submarines increases from 24 to 72 units. Submarines are able to use supersonic 3M55 (P-800) Onyx, hypersonic 3M22 Zircon, as well as ammunition from the Caliber family - anti-ship 3M54 and KR against ground targets 3M14K. Such a set of ammunition allows one to overcome the missile defense systems of Western surface ships and ground-based air defense crews.

It should be taken into account that Antey is still a 3rd generation nuclear submarine. Therefore, one of their significant disadvantages is their higher noise level compared to more modern nuclear submarines. The high acoustic signature can exceed 70 dB, which does not allow it to move covertly at a distance of 30 - 50 km of a NATO naval group accompanied by the US Navy's 4th generation Virginia-class or Astute-class attack submarines. Great Britain, which are equipped with highly sensitive hydroacoustic stations. This deficiency must also be corrected.

The Russian Navy has seven 949A/AM units, of which two submarines are undergoing repairs and modernization at the Zvezda Far Eastern Plant in the Primorsky Territory.

After all, the boats are under 40 years old. It's a lot.

the Zircon’s range is 1000 km, so the “old man” can calmly graze the AUG at a safe distance, the main thing is that the joint mechanisms work properly

Author, are the launchers outdated or granite? Granite is not obsolete.

And if they extract it, then this Granite must be modified and used in its own, like a rocket launcher.

These boats still remember the times when Borya was commander in chief

The high acoustic signature can exceed 70 dB, which does not allow it to move covertly at a distance of 30 - 50 km for a group of NATO navies...

    1. reduce the speed, switch to electric propulsion, go under the jump layer, set the “silence” mode... When upgrading, replace the GTZA, install new, more efficient shock absorbers or (if included in the project) on a shock-absorbed frame, cover the body with Medusa-2 or what's new there... You never know how to reduce the acoustic signature... That's not the main thing. The danger from UUVs and from low-frequency sonar... from non-acoustic means of detecting submarines is one of the main problems of submarines.
    2. 30-50 km is the distance of modern use of torpedo weapons. Yes, at the limit, but fresh...if on a collision course, then it’s possible. And the missile strike was carried out by just a few anti-aircraft divisions of the Northern Fleet/Pacific Fleet (according to exercises) from a distance of more than 150 km, beyond the active anti-aircraft gun zone of the AUG. At the same time, the boats occupied sectors in a circular formation relative to the AVM... The most important and difficult thing was to organize interaction, the control center, and the simultaneous approach of the anti-ship missiles to the main goal.
This is what you need to write about if you take up an article, and not invent problems 30-50 km away!
    IMHO.
