Representatives of the Kiev Patriarchate took part in the “Unification Council”: 42 bishops, 12 bishops, with each of them - one priest and layman. Together with the rest present, the number of participants was 190 people. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church was represented by only two people, although the organizers counted on the presence of ten representatives. These were Metropolitan Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevsky Alexander (Drabinko) and Metropolitan Vinnitsa and Barsky Simeon (Shostatsky). The UOC found the assembly illegal, and Archbishop Clement said that the two had nothing to do with it.
Due to the fact that Constantinople temporarily blocked the holding of the Cathedral, the event began a few hours later than planned. This did not bother Poroshenko, who, after the “Unification Council”, went to Sofia Square and loudly declared before the crowd:
