There are no barriers to the Velox monster robot

If you consider in detail any living creature, it becomes clear that it is ideally adapted to the environment. One gets the impression that "Mother Nature" makes no mistakes. This fact more and more often encourages designers to use environmental “hints” in their designs. Apparently therefore, most modern robots so strongly resemble animals, insects, birds and other representatives of the fauna.

The “monstrous” Velox was not an exception - the creation of P. Filardo, who heads the company Pliant Energy Systems. The robot outwardly resembles a huge scolopendra, the numerous paws of which have been replaced by a kind of flexible fins. This system of movement, according to the designer, allows a mechanical assistant to overcome any obstacles, including water.

In the process of developing the device, Filardo successfully applied his knowledge in the field of marine biology. The installed on-board processor provides smooth wave-like movements, distributing power between the drives, which allows the robot to move under water like a sea slope.

However, Velox feels great not only in the aquatic environment. The "mechanical centipede" without any problems moves on a hard surface, sand, gravel, snow and even ice. This makes the device indispensable in various complex missions, including polar ones.
