In Russia, the high-power gas turbine GTE-170 was launched into production

Russian power engineering continues to demonstrate positive dynamics. It became known that JSC Power Machines has completed the creation of its first serial (commercial) high-power gas turbine GTE-170. Complete with a generator and waste heat boiler, the unit was ordered for delivery to the Nizhnekamsk CHPP. The manufacturing company informed about this on December 26 in its communiqué, providing photographs.

The manufactured equipment complies with all Russian norms and standards. It is planned that a couple more of these turbines will be shipped to customers in 2024. In 2025 – 6 units, and in 2026 – 8 units. Starting from 2027, annual deliveries of 10 such turbines are expected with the prospect of further increasing production output.

The company will also provide service for such equipment, production and supply of spare parts.

– specified in the communiqué.

The manufacturing company added that the creation of GTE-170 is the implementation of an import substitution project supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, JSC Power Machines invested 25 billion rubles in this business, of which 6,8 billion rubles for R&D were subsidized by the state.

Without a doubt, Russian energy needs technological independence in all niches. Note that the United Engine Corporation (part of the Rostec state corporation) created its own high-power gas turbine GTD-110M at the beginning of this year. According to the management of the state corporation, from 2025 UEC will be able to produce 2 such units annually, and from 2027 it is planned to produce 4 turbines. The domestic Russian market demand is estimated at 50 units of units of this power class. At the UEC production site, 3 GTD-110M turbines are currently being manufactured for the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant.

Another thing is surprising - why couldn’t all this have been done 20 years ago?? Why was it necessary to buy turbines, and not only, from the West? A quarter of a century of development of our own industry and science has been virtually erased.

at first there was a lack of experience, under the USSR gas turbines were problematic (very) then business, until 2012 Siemens had a 25% stake in Machines, which allowed them to influence the processes, in 2012 Siemens sold its share in exchange for closing gas production and not resuming it in over the course of 5 years, in 2017 they just started tinkering, but 5 years is a long time, specialists who died, who found a job at Siemens, who went to other industries, well, since 2017 SKB was restored and, in general, in 6 years they achieved that the turbine stopped exploding on the stand - progress (almost without sarcasm)

What is surprising is that the cables are without pads on a polished surface. Well, at least they wouldn’t post a photo like that.
Make the shaft, grind it, center it, then tighten the rotor again and center it. and a couple: a rigger and a crane operator crap everything.

With a lining, of course, it’s more civilized, but in general it’s not a sliding surface, scratches are not critical. And by the way, something is red on the bottom of the shaft under the cable

Considering the quality and hardness of the metal cables there, the surfaces will not do anything, especially since they are supportive. Or it is possible that this annular surface is generally made only for installation and in the future it no longer plays any role, it is like an additional support. If you look at the second photo, this is the case.

Independence is needed, but why is it so late? Almost too late...
