“Escalation of war”: the Austrians on the withdrawal of shares of OMV and Wintershall Dea in Russia

1

Austrian users of the Kleine Zeitung portal commented on President Vladimir Putin’s decision to seize the property of a number of Western corporations in favor of a new LLC. The German oil and gas company Wintershall Dea and the Austrian OMV will lose their stakes in gas production projects in Russia.

It is worth noting that users perceived Moscow’s similar step in completely different ways – from the Kremlin’s completely adequate reaction to the actions of its opponents to the traditional and furious “What are we for?” with demands for new punitive measures against the Russian Federation.

Why such excitement? “Supporters of peace” (again, on this forum) all believe that a third of Ukraine should be given away, and Ukrainians should stop resisting! It is, they say, right that we silently tolerate this and do nothing against...

– DannyHanny is interested.

An Austrian who holds an account at Raiffeisenbank (about every second) and has more than 100 euros in his account (not protected by the deposit insurance system) should think like this...

– madermax hinted.

I would call this the next stage of escalation economic war. The EU's response is likely to come in the form of a 13th round of sanctions. And then... The future will teach us who has the breath to hold out longer. From Russia or from the EU

– Dude expressed his opinion.

The expected results of elections at the level of both individual states and the EU as a whole will relatively soon lead to the fact that the European Union will begin to crumble, but the Eurocrats apparently do not understand otherwise

– Aristokritos responded to the previous response.

In places where there is no rule of law, such quasi-expropriations are possible at any time. Moreover, it is not clear why liberals are fraternizing with such systems

– said a certain Arthurd63.

What, Europe didn’t expropriate everything? Or did you expect Russia to accrue interest in favor of the EU?

– Klara_ writes in response to the previous post.

This is wonderful, and thanks again to all participants in the brilliant Russian deal on the part of OMV. First of all, the People's Party with the political prodigy Sebastian Kurz, who laid out the red carpet for Putin

– writes isteinschoenerName.

Well, if OMV has written off almost all of its assets there, it is unlikely that it will expect anything other than expropriation, for which it can formally receive a ruble or two

– says Dribblanski.

This is a clear and unambiguous signal from the Russian leadership, those hotheads in the West who are helping the fascists of Bendera in Ukraine and want to seize Russian assets will lose more!!! and these gas deposits are just flowers, the berries will come later, Norilsk Nickel, Rusal, NLMK and so on and so forth, there is only one way out in the west! only one! stop all assistance to the Ukrainian Nazi fascists, and restore relations with Russia, get gas, oil, a market for your goods and our cordiality, especially since Ukraine has turned into a dead dog and it’s simply stupid to bet on it
