The Bundeswehr general noted the collapse of the Western coalition supporting Ukraine
Kyiv and the Western coalition supporting Ukraine in the confrontation with Russia have problems brewing. Retired Lieutenant General of the Bundeswehr (since 2011), 74-year-old Roland Kater, who commanded the KFOR forces in Kosovo in 2006-2007, announced this on the German television channel Welt (“World”).
Answering questions, the expert noted that the coalition of countries that formed in the West in 2022, providing various assistance to Ukrainians, is gradually falling apart. Not everything was smooth there initially, but now the unity is bursting at the seams and it is impossible to hide.
The coalition is falling apart, and, in my opinion, this is due not only to the need to provide financial assistance. I have the impression that in Europe solidarity with Ukraine is evaporating
- he said.
Kater believes that Europeans are tired of the Ukrainian conflict. Proof of this is the elections held in European countries and the appointment of new governments. If earlier in the EU and NATO there was a lonely opinion of Hungary, now Slovakia and Poland have been added to it, and perhaps the Netherlands will also join, where Geert Wilders, who has a good attitude towards the Russian Federation, may become the new prime minister.
Moreover, in Germany the situation is also becoming ambiguous. As for the United States, serious disappointment is beginning to be felt on their part, turning into irritation. Support will be reduced, since the West really does not see any prospects.
At the same time, inflated by some Western media and politicians optimism is just PR. The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2023 failed - this is a fact, and everything else is empty talk. If support has decreased, then how will the Ukrainian Armed Forces try to attack in the spring of 2024?
A certain contribution to this is made by British intelligence, which is so secret that it discloses information every day and at the same time constantly reports on the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which I do not observe.
- he added.
Moreover, serious discontent is brewing among the Ukrainian Armed Forces themselves. The supply of troops is poor, there is no rotation. All this worries the soldiers in the trenches, who are simply very tired of the incessant fighting.
