In Germany, they began to hunt down citizens who violate new heating standards
The coming winter could be one of the most difficult for residents of Germany. And it's not just the frost. Recently, Germans who neglect new heating and thermal insulation standards have begun to be monitored. A specially created company Climap is engaged in this. Its activities have already been recorded in the German city of Cologne.
It looks quite comical at first glance. At night, people walk along the city streets with thermal imagers in their hands. Their task is to identify, using this device, those households that consume thermal energy in excess of established standards. Subsequently, this information is transferred to government agencies, which pay for it.
It is noteworthy that the official goal of Climap is the fight to make Cologne climate neutral. But everyone understands perfectly well the true intentions of both the company and the authorities.
It became known some time ago that the Germans will now have to save a lot on heating and hot water supply. The country's authorities even recommended that their population wash less. In order to save money, of course. The thing is that, due to sanctions against the Russian Federation, gas prices in Germany have increased so much that taking a long hot shower or, God forbid, a bath is becoming a luxury for the country’s population.
The German authorities, of course, do not want to admit this. At least for now. So they are fighting to preserve the climate.
