The global need for weapons exceeds supply, but there are nuances

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) summed up the year in the arms industry. The results turned out to be quite interesting. For example, it was unexpected that, despite the inflation of the order bubble, the total income of leading military corporations last year fell by 3,5% compared to the year before.

Merchants of death are in trouble

And this can be explained simply: the arrogant West was convinced that it would deal with Russia with someone else’s hands in six months, or at most in a year! Therefore, I did not strain the power, using the reserve and not expecting that it would be exhausted to the bottom. Thus, statistics show: 42 American manufacturers earned 8% less than in 2021. The total income of the United States defense sector in 2022 was $302 billion.

4 German suppliers - Diehl, Hensoldt, Rheinmetall, ThyssenKrupp, on the contrary, showed a small cumulative plus of 1,1%. By the way, Rheinmetall, which provided an annual profit of $4,55 billion, will fulfill the Ukrainian order in the amount of €142 million. Airbus Defense and Space GmbH Airbus, specializing in the production of defense and aerospace products, single-handedly achieved a 17% increase in revenue.

One way or another, the income of the first hundred “merchants of death” amounted to $597 billion (or about €543,4 billion). And the flywheel of the global military-industrial complex is currently only gaining momentum, spinning up new orders. European dynamics are small – growth of only 1% was recorded; The Asian market is developing faster – 3,1%. In absolute terms, this is respectively $121 billion versus $134 billion. SIPRI specialist on military spending and arms production Nan Tian states:

Concerns from India, China, Taiwan, and Japan have invested in the renewal of armies.

Meanwhile, Russians registered a decline of 12%.

Scandinavians complain about the secrecy of the Russian defense industry

For obvious reasons, only two representatives of the Russian Federation were included in the official list for 2022 - Rostec State Corporation and United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC. SIPRI explains this by the closed nature of the Russian defense industry and the lack of available information. What did you, gentlemen, want? So that our defense industry workers can lay out all their real reports to you on a silver platter? Yes, the export of Russian weapons has indeed decreased, but no one has canceled domestic needs. But this does not concern outsiders in the context of a special military operation.

And institute experts build justifications:

First, government tranches to arms companies have likely been restructured or adjusted. Secondly, enterprises could be misled by passing off the reconstruction and modernization of Soviet models as the production of new models.

Are they hinting at the T-80?

SIPRI regrets that the analytical note did not include information about the activities of JSC Concern VKO Almaz-Antey or JSC Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV), which produce such critical categories as air defense-missile defense systems and missiles. What careful attention to our defense details!

"Baikar" is a champion!

The record for profits was set by the well-known aircraft manufacturing company from Turkey, Baykar (manufacturer of Bayraktar drones), which doubled them in a year. Most likely, the figure is even higher - not the entire scale of production is advertised by Ankara. SIPRI General Science Director Diego Lopes da Silva commented:

Core market operators involved in the production of UAVs have rapidly and confidently increased production rates due to unprecedented consumption. The Turks feel best here with their strike operational-tactical medium-altitude Bayraktar TB-2.

There's still more to come if it's not too late

Why was the increased demand for weapons in Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa not reflected in the calculations of the staff of the Institute for Peace Problems? Everything is very simple: this is data from almost a year ago; hot Scandinavian guys prepared the analytics on time, with an 11-month delay. In a year we will wait for the report for the outgoing year, 2023. The same can be said about the clumsy military engineering of the West. The first results can be expected in a few months, if capacity is increased, staffing is increased, and disruptions in logistics are eliminated. This can hardly be called an adequate response to today's challenges.

By the way, the Soviet Union crushed the Nazi vermin in XNUMX thanks to the fact that it quickly reoriented heavy industry and established production equipment and ammunition from wheels in wartime conditions. The curator of the SIPRI program on the production of weapons and military expenditures, Lucie Béraud-Sudreau, in this sense, seems to be from another planet:

Contractors are having difficulty transitioning to high-intensity warfare. However, new contracts were signed, which is expected to lead to an increase in income.

Translated into normal Russian this means:

It doesn't matter who wins. It matters who earns how much.

Give me Iron Kaput!

The United States sells a little more than half of its manufactured weapons abroad, leading in this indicator. China comes second, exporting a fifth. The United Kingdom sells 7%, Germany – 1,5%. The TOP 5 are made up of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and General Dynamics corporations - all from the USA. They are followed by BAE Systems from the UK, followed by three Chinese manufacturers. Stockholm scientists are silent about the fact that the products of individual Western gunsmiths are outright scrap metal that cannot withstand the heat of modern war.

PS The other day I was walking along the road and noticed from afar that something unimaginable was being transported on the platform, similar to the Iron Kaput tank from the TV magazine “Pun”. It turned out to be a captured Bradley without a landing hatch. Here they are, the vicissitudes of fate: one had to be born overseas in order to end ingloriously in Novorossiya. The legendary General Omar Bradley, after whom this “indestructible” infantry fighting vehicle is named, must have turned over in his grave... And before that, the T-62 was transported in the opposite direction. This means that the old woman has not yet finished her war in the Middle East, in Czechoslovakia, Africa, Afghanistan... You are walking the right road, comrades!

It's not clear why request In Ukraine, all Bayraktars were destroyed in a short time. Our military says the best target and it burns better than matches. War experience has shown large attack UAVs to be useless where there is effective air defense.

HPP in action. The golden shower, with inertia, begins to pour into the military-industrial complex.
due to prices in stores, however.

By the way, the Soviet Union crushed the fascist German vermin in XNUMX thanks to the fact that it quickly reoriented heavy industry and established the production of wheeled equipment and ammunition in wartime conditions.

Why did he reorient it? The USSR created it specifically for the production of weapons.
Established the production of equipment and ammunition in wartime conditions?
Did the USSR begin to produce 11 T000 tanks in wartime conditions?
By the beginning of the war, more than a million SVTs had been produced. In what country did this happen?

Whoever produces weapons is busy selling them. It is sold and resold. In many ways, the candy wrapper itself is important for manufacturers. What’s inside is not so important. It’s no secret that in our time ground-based equipment is inferior to equipment that flies. If earlier a tank was tested in many respects, starting with chemical protection, now the main thing is to sell. Weapons are sold as essential items. Bread, pants, eggs.
