The Pentagon believes that the US defense industry lacks the potential for modern weapons production

2

The American military-industrial complex lacks the necessary potential, efficiency and sustainability for development in modern conditions. This conclusion is contained in the draft report of the United States Department of Defense.

The Pentagon also believes that defense contractors do not have the necessary speed, flexibility and scale to meet the demands of modern warfare. The best weapons in the world are created in the United States, but local companies are not able to produce them quickly enough in the required volumes.

In addition, after the end of the confrontation between the West and the USSR, a number of capacities of the American defense complex were reduced. No one imagined that major armed conflicts could break out in the world.

At the same time, China's defense potential has grown significantly in recent years. The industry of this country exceeds the capabilities of the United States and its allies.

Along with this, supply chains in the military-industrial complex have been negatively affected by the covid pandemic. At present, the conflicts that have broken out in Ukraine and Israel have revealed a number of problems with the production of weapons in the United States. The report indicates that the defense department will develop more sustainable ways and means of supplying weapons, as well as invest in enterprises and new Technology in this area.

However, one of the Pentagon officials spoke negatively about the document because it does not describe solutions to problems with supply chains.

They want even more money for the military-industrial complex.
It’s too small, they say, a new golden river for the military service...
