Not a single Windows: Microsoft is working on a new "OS"

Portable devices are relentlessly crowding out desktop computers every year. Modern users prefer to enjoy surfing the net and other benefits anywhere and anytime. That is why their choice is increasingly focused on tablets and smartphones.

Apparently, the aforementioned fact, as well as the natural desire to be competitive, prompted Microsoft to develop a new OS, which received the design name Core OS. According to the developers, their shell will not be inferior to the "mobile OS": Android, iOS and Chrome.

At the moment, it is known that the program will operate on the Windows 10 kernel and support not only X86 processors, but also ARM, often used on tablets. Applications, as in most similar OSs, will be available for download from the official store.

As stated by Microsoft, the release is likely to be called Windows Lite. However, it is likely that the corporation will still abandon the Windows brand and present Core OS as a separate operating system for portable gadgets.

It is worth recalling that Microsoft's previous attempts in this industry were unsuccessful. Windows S never became popular, and its “colleague” RT failed miserably. All hope for Core OS?
