“Words Can’t convey”: trucker from Russia about life in Canada

49
Alex Shturman works in one of the Canadian transport companies as a truck driver. But he became famous thanks to his hobby: Alex is known as a Russian-language video blogger from Canada.

He has been in this country for many years. This man lives here with his wife and adult daughter. At the same time, he regrets that he once left Russia. And although Canada is considered one of the most popular countries among migrants, Alex does not feel comfortable and free here, calling it a concentration camp.

Concentration camp country

He believes that this definition most accurately describes the reality that surrounds him. This is not even a prison, everything is much worse. Words can not convey. If in prison a person is guaranteed a warm cell, bunks and chowder, then there are no guarantees. It’s just that you don’t have any rights, they can do what they see fit with you. Here you can humiliate and deprive everything. And you cannot leave the perimeter of your camp.

Of course, he knows many immigrants from Russia who came to Canada, got a good job here and do not need anything. But Alex is sure that sooner or later, each of them will experience the feeling that he experienced. He realized that the better a migrant in Canada feels, the greater the risk that he will be created problems here.

Feel like a stranger

Alex believes that the “Canadians,” as he calls the locals, are very envious and unfriendly people. They are always pleased with your troubles and afflict success.

When his life began to improve here, relations with neighbors began to deteriorate. From time to time they even called the police to him. Police officers, seeing in front of themselves adequate and even pleasant people, eventually ceased to respond to such challenges.

In passing, he mentions that he opened some kind of business, but he was not allowed to turn around and was made bankrupt.

And when he was already working as a trucker, the policeman who stopped him drew attention to the fact that a driver with twenty years of experience had not a single comment. The mess. And then he wrote him at once three small fines by Canadian standards so that life would not seem to be honey.

Because of this, Alex began serious troubles. It even got to the point that he nearly lost his job. Of course, Native Canadians have fines, but for them this is not a problem. But for a visitor, everything can turn out very differently.

If before he did not have to stand idle, now he receives the most disadvantageous orders, and, having delivered the goods, he can wait a day or two in the cold cabin of his truck until he receives a new order. And at the same time, he should smile and not show his displeasure in any way.

His daughter, applying for a mortgage, was surprised to learn about her bad credit history. It turns out that when she was just starting to work, she overdue the payment for the phone. More precisely, she paid on time, but did not take into account that the amount is credited in a few days. The price of the issue is $ 20. She was told that it’s okay, they didn’t take a penalty, they just recommended paying a little earlier.

As a result, this case became the reason that the girl now has no right to take housing in a mortgage for six years. You just have to take it off.

By the way, Alex says that the owners of the apartment have the right to come to you for rented housing with a check twice a month, even in your absence.

You're nobody here

Alex realized that even if you have an apartment, a car, a family, a business here, you can lose all this at once. And then you will become an ordinary disempowered slave who must obey the master and overseers in everything. After all, if you fall into disgrace, you will barely make ends meet, working for food and paying for housing and communal services.

The man is already thinking about returning to Russia, but this is also not so simple. He says that earned money is enough only from paycheck to paycheck, so he is not even able to buy a ticket to his homeland.

Perhaps here he is a little disingenuous. I do not think that he is not able to buy a plane ticket. Simply, having arrived in Russia, he will also have to start everything from scratch, and yet he, Alex, is far from 16 years old. He will arrive in his native country, where he has no home, no job.

Therefore, most likely, he will not leave anywhere in Canada. Alex will simply take his soul away, sharing thoughts with visitors to his video blog, and continue, with his teeth gritting, to put up with the surrounding reality.

On the one hand, a man is sorry.
On the other hand, those leaving cannot understand that with our mentality we will always be "there" strangers, in the overwhelming majority the word "I am Russian" is there a ban on entering Western society and that no one is waiting for them there.

Normally there belong to the Russians. After all, all of America is a land of immigrants from all over the world. Russians are the same as other visitors. I would even say that much more distrust in prosperous areas will cause some kind of black thread from the ghetto or a native of Muslim countries.
Just your Russianness does not need to stick out. I didn’t hear something that the Chinese were sticking out or some kind of thread Indians. Once you have arrived in the country, adapt to its rules.

That's it, that "from all over the world." The fact is that in the United States, an immigrant from everywhere and an immigrant from Russia are perceived oppositely. There they very successfully created the image of a Russian as a bandit from a totalitarian country.

It is not true. The attitude towards Russians is exactly the same as towards any others. In general, the attitude towards you depends on how you will behave, how quickly you adapt to local realities, how quickly you master the language. Those. the matter is in a particular person, and not in his nationality.

Of course, in any country there are ardent cheers-patriots with an image of the enemy built in the inflamed brain, who are allergic to certain nationalities or to all foreigners in general. We have plenty of such. On this site including. But judging by such individuals about the whole country is a mistake.

You yourself now think like Hollywood, under the influence of all sorts of obsolete cliches and templates. Russians are full in IT companies, research institutes, etc. And for some reason, no one bothers them to work there in quite good positions.

I read this article and immediately remembered that in the distant 80s I worked in a geological party and there one Western Ukrainian worked as a foreman of sinkers. Then the sinkers earned up to a thousand rubles a month, and this westerner worked for about 10 years in geology. Finally he got tired of life in a geological settlement and he was going to return to Ukraine. A good house had already been bought and repaired there, there was a Volga car and there were about 80 thousand rubles on the book. For half a year, he "spat" with geology -type: "You are here like moles chewing this sand, so that I still come here, and not in life", etc. Finally left with the whole family. And after a year and a half he returned. Out of drunkenness, he said that he would rather live in the taiga with wolves than in Ukraine with the Ukrainians. So this is what I mean, there are a lot of Ukrainians in Canada and mostly Westerners.
PS Thank God that I went to Portugal, the truth is also enough jokes, but this is not here. But when I retire here (in Portugal, a pension of 66 years, both men and women), then I will die leaving for Russia.

Please tell me ... Why do you live there as you earn, pay taxes ... Do you go to die here? And why is it simple - not to live there and die there ... Or for a turn - and live here and stay right there until your last day? Why I ask - it’s somehow strange ... what difference does it make where to end my life if you don’t connect your life with the Motherland ...
Yes ... and why "thank God"?

What is most interesting is that when the Motherland is tight, they run away from it "to seek a better life." I am not accusing anyone, I am just stating a fact. "A fish seeks where it is deeper, and a person - where it is better" - this proverb here, in Russia, does not have any special meaning. But when this proverb begins to be applied to those who run "over the hill", when difficulties begin in their native country, something quite different arises here. Guys! Did you think that in a foreign land you would be welcome? So there they are only glad to OPEN traitors of their people - traitors from the military or scientific sphere, diplomats, athletes ... i.e. those that can bring tangible HARM to their former country. At the present time, you can freely obtain a residence permit (or citizenship) of another country without becoming persecuted by the authorities (not like in the USSR before ... although ...). The only question is, WHETHER YOU WILL BE GIVEN this citizenship or residence permit. And so - go ahead with songs!
Guys - did you believe in the tales of the "blessed west"? Have you believed in the land of "great opportunities"? Now you understand that all this is a LIE? It was a lie from the very beginning, as well as the fact that they are waiting for you there with open arms, that there are SUCH SALARIES - you will download! But nobody explained to you that THERE SHOULD PAY FOR EVERYONE! As well as the fact that taxes, rent with a communal flat, employment, nationalism and racial intolerance (and it has not gone anywhere), and how they do not like migrants (generally a separate song) - this is something that has nothing to do with Russian realities.
Therefore, everyone who wants to run "from this country" - go ahead, like a tablecloth! For the rest, there is a very simple rule - "Where was born - there it came in handy."

On account of - do not like migrants - nonsense. All the migrants are here ...
People may not love each other in any country .... People arrange themselves in different ways - better, worse, in any country. It all depends on the specific person ... You’ll talk through people’s lips and in Russia they will fill their faces, and in Canada.

In a foreign land, we welcome good specialists who are ready to learn a language, adapt to local realities, rebuild their mentality and lifestyle to local customs, and most importantly, they are ready to work, work, work. Engineers, IT workers, financiers are very, very quoted and do not cry for their lives. And if at home you did not understand what, interrupted by casual earnings, then you won’t achieve anything beyond the hill with this approach.

They get along there just like the Russians get along with Caucasians / Central Asians. In fact, they tolerate each other. But here and in the USA, inter-ethnic conflicts erupt periodically. There are enough examples both with us and with them. The only difference is that they have a lot of gunshots on hand, but we don’t, that's all.

You fucking just do not need anyone anywhere, you can’t leave, there is a gag, teeth grind, such as injustice, if I were a union I would be the secretary of the school desks, but nothing like that :) Calm down already, read the Bible, get closer to God, or else Now you’ll begin to collect signatures, like that is abnormal, so that children of cancer patients can be evicted from the entrance, so as not to get infected. There is a Russian proverb: where he was born, there he came in handy. I want to wish film actor Serebryakov, who moved to Canada with his whole family and, before the county, called the Russians boors and insolents. At the same time, excellent living conditions and the goodwill of Canadians were praised. However, this neither boorish nor insolent continues to come to Russia to act in films and we must now see his face in front of us often.

I have been living in Canada for 20 years.
Failure to pay for the phone has nothing to do with credit history. This is between the user and the telephone company. Credit history is the history of a loan / refund to financial institutions. I myself took a mortgage many times ... and not always I paid the bills on time .... in short, I do not believe !!!!
And I didn’t understand - what is there in Canada, what isn’t in Russia .... that there can’t be lost in just one moment? or are they not obeying the master and overseers? And in Russia, people do not live barely making ends meet, working for food and housing and communal services?
And this is also not true:

landlords have the right to come to you for rental housing with a check twice a month even in your absence

    - you need to read the rental agreement, everything is written there - when and who can come with a check.
In my opinion, one cannot be Russian and live in Canada, one cannot be Canadian and live in Russia. If you come to live in another country - become a resident of it and take it into your soul and love. Otherwise, do not come .....
My children were born in Kazakhstan, created families with local (English-speaking) in Canada, gave birth to our grandchildren. And we have a great relationship with new relatives and neighbors.
Yes, there is crime and corruption, and where is it not? But living here is much safer than, say, in Kazakhstan. And I came here almost without money with two children in the late 90s, but from the very first day they began to help me - both with work and with language and with housing. For all this, I am grateful to this country.

If you are so "grateful" to the country in which you live, why are you here, on this resource? If you have been living THERE for 20 years (and everything is great with you), then what compels you to comment on negative articles HERE? If everything is so bad here (in Russia), why are you comparing Kazakhstan with Canada? WHAT DOES RUSSIA HAVE? And why do you think that Russia (in which you did not live 20 years ago) 20 years ago and the present one are the same?
I have a question for you ... Why haven't I seen your comments here before? But just ON THIS article? Isn't it because you have NO ATTITUDE to RUSSIANS? And if you do, then how much did you get paid for the praise "overseas"? ... Hmm ... So you are registered directly for specific comments on such topics ... It turns out interesting! Where am I criticizing Russia? I respect and love Russia, as this is the homeland of my parents. I read news from Russia and wish her good luck. That's why I compared with Kazakhstan that I lived there and not in Russia. And Russia has nothing to do with it at all. And why do you think that if I am grateful to Canada, then I am against Russia?
And you are right, I registered after I read the article, because to blame the country where you live and lie about it is not worthy. About any country !!!! I just wanted to say that people live in any country, both good and bad. It all depends on the person.

The person wanted to establish contact with you, like Kazakhstan is almost Orenburg, and you immediately disowned, like I'm a patriot, and you never lived in a union like that. And I remember someone sleeping and seeing the reunion of the "great and mighty".
Then why the hell is such a negative to the comments of compatriots?
The fact that the people did not drink too much and did not skimp, like millions of weavers about the union, but went and saved themselves and their family - what is it? Well done! Man!
And then, the homeland is bad, it is again to turn the brain out of the category. Is she alive? Infantilism in the cube is to animate inanimate objects and endow them with human functions, feelings, etc.

Authors, do you really think that the people are so stupid that they will believe this nonsense ?! This looks like the clumsy propaganda of Channel One.

Now there is the Internet, a bunch of bloggers, videos on YouTube, a bunch of sites and groups in social networks, where you can learn a lot of interesting things about a particular country. If this particular guy has not achieved anything, this is not at all an indicator of life in the country. I have several good friends who have left for Canada, one for Australia, another one is going to move to Limassol (Cyprus), another one to Japan. I know two people who filled out an application for a US green card in October. Basically, these are all hard-working people in the IT environment. Those who actually go to work, learn the language and adapt to the culture are doing very, very well. In any case, no one even thinks about the return of Vova Putin and his oligarch friends to "prosperous" Russia.

People do not deceive. This is 200-300 thousand Russians annually served on the US green card, and not Americans seeking to get to Russia. And this is an indicator. So your cheap campaigns do not cause anything but a sad grin.

Only two settled well. One - as a repatriate German in Germany, the other as a refugee from the tyranny of bandits in the United States. The second, by the way, has been back for 8 years already. In principle, he liked it there, but in Russia he was used to feeling himself a respected person (in a good way) and there he did not even feel equal with the others. He even has children living in Russia now, although they have American citizenship by birth. I always pass such stories through the impressions of my acquaintances who emigrated in their time. So, in order to get accustomed to North America normally, you need to be a representative of the "God-chosen" nation - this is the very first and most important thing. Second, you have to come with a lot of money. In any other case, it all turns into almost slavery., With rare exceptions. Even as a middle class, if you are an emigrant, especially from the former USSR, there is no chance of making a career at all. however, there even for their fellow citizens there are not many chances to get out of the lower castes.
This uncle, with all this, of course, is a little cunning. In principle, the same measures of "punishment" are applied to him as to any ordinary citizen of Canada, but in a slightly perverted form.
When people "drive" to the west, the overwhelming majority do not understand that hypothetically high salaries are eaten up by the high cost of living and the dudes end up in the same garbage as in Russia: vegetating from paycheck to paycheck, living in "houses" made of chipboard and slats, moreover, to get involved in credit slavery and lose any opportunity to return home.
And only their children, perhaps with a happy combination of facilities, will be able to somehow fit into their new homeland and then probably their grandchildren

And then he apparently forgot what no one is. The poor fellow was fined. And my daughter was not given a mortgage due to late payment - this may be true, but the delay was most likely not alone in this case. Note, not because she does not have the money to pay it, but because of her bad credit history, and the mortgage is 2-3 percent, not 15. I wonder who watches his blogs ??? Wow...

    Another disappointed ...

Sentiment and motives are always unique. The facts are incontrovertible.

I don’t know for Canada (full of zapornatsukropami as it turns out), I live in Australia for 26 years. He left KZ for an understandable reason: Scoop camber, Raski go home.

Canada, USA, Australia are classic immigrant countries. In Australia, 49% of the population is the 1st, 2nd generation of migrants. After all, 230 years ago, the Anglo-Saxons were the first colonialists / migrants of a new wave of relocation. In the form of the First Fleet at the very beginning, consisting of Irish and other prisoners, exiled to hell for petty crime.

Guess how now? Belonging to the descendants of those poor, disenfranchised first migrants in chains is now a sign of pride and prestige of the local "old" elite.

Nothing is done in 5, 10, even 20 years. It took a long time to build Rome. Whining about the inferiority of the inspirational society that accepted you on an equal footing is a typical soviet relic. Snot about "because I am from Russia" is what it is - "snot". A modern, democratic, cap society deeply does not care where you are from, especially if, until the recent past, from poor Raska.

About guarantees. Health care is free, higher education - in interest-free installments as long as you work - then you start paying. Social guarantees of unemployment and incapacity - you will live but not so much that you like living for free.

Personal credit rating depends on (also) how long it has not been repaid and how big the debts are, including utility bills. However, companies ALWAYS warn of the negative impact on credit ratios if bills are not paid on time. If you cannot pay for valid reasons, deferrals are offered or state aid to the poor as a last resort. After the debt is repaid, the "black" mark on the dossier is automatically erased. 20 dollars not on time and refused a mortgage? What kind of fairy tale is this?

Envy? Like any people depending on their upbringing. But this goes NOT in any comparison with the scoop / post-sov from which this comrade appeared. Especially envious of a carrier? For what?

Ill-will? A friend fell from the moon? I did not see smiles in the scoop. This was considered a sign of idiocy. Everything is diametrically opposite here.

Russia is now much closer to the global model now than to that about which you are so nostalgic, while pouring mud on your new homeland.

    Wake up ...

I am afraid that paradise will only not be on earth and not in heaven, but there will be nothingness, and all my life I will go after the pseudo-Moses and shout to him about Anna, dooming children and grandchildren to wander further - the height of idiocy and irresponsibility.
People across the earth are migrating, and that’s the norm.
Only in our country it is considered honorable to sit all our life in r ... not, because this is the motherland, damn it.

Not a word of truth, complete nonsense of an inadequate person. Look at this pepper, it is either stoned or drunk. I live in Canada for 15 years, believe me, I know what I'm saying.
If this troll, and he paid RT, Troll, is so bad in Canada, so why shouldn’t he be blamed for Russia, no, he will live in Canada and water it with his shit. Lord, how the earth suffers such a bastard!

Dear Valentine. For this wretched "blogger" - the title "RT troll" is too honorable. They are losers, and their name is legion. And they say what their colleagues on the other side of the ocean want to hear. This one was a little more fortunate. So he's a higher ranked loser.
And in general: This moron is better to look at the road more attentively, because there are still people going, normal. For "distraction driving" now 1000 CAD + demerit points.

Amazing article. You rarely see so much hatred for people around you, for the social, economic environment. The author’s goal is to warn Russian citizens that they couldn’t even think about emigrating to such a terrible country like Canada.
They say that the surest way to test the truth is practice. See who is applying for permanent residence in Canada. There is no end to the desire, and most highly educated people. Of those who came from Russia, fewer than all people living on benefits. Many people want to move to Russia. But these are poorly educated people who do not have any profession, and are mostly suitable as janitors. It turns out that people who applied for permanent residence in Canada received false information. Thank you, you opened their eyes.
The trucker profession is one of the most sought after. There is no newspaper in Russian or English that would not be invited to work. Salary 5-7 000 per month. This money is enough not only for a ticket to Russia, but also for an apartment, full-fledged food, etc. There are people who always feel bad everywhere. They need psychological help.

If Russia is used instead of Canada, nothing will change.

There were people like people and here bang ....
I traded the life of a citizen for the life of a guest worker, and now she complains!
    That's just funny ...

Nothing funny. He's not a bad person. Not a lazy person, not a drunkard, trying, working. Not the fact that in Russia would be in chocolate. Maybe he just doesn't "rush" to the peasant, so he gets angry and blames everyone for his troubles. Although, it seems not stupid. I must understand that houses and walls help.

And what rights do you have as a citizen and what guest workers do not have in Canada? Maybe there is still more right, then? :)

What nonsense ??? If he’s still in Canada, then it’s not so bad.
There are even very friendly people. Sometimes how much uneasy. Maybe these envious were from ours (these by the way are very envious and will do everything possible to annoy you).
But it’s time to know about the credit history to a person who has lived for many years in Canada. And if you don’t know and did not teach your daughter, then what are you complaining about? Rules are rules.

They do not care that Russia, that Ukraine, that Israel, that Canada. These are homeless nationals. Find fault with the country that feeds you and treats your family for free for "likes" - the height of squalor. They always poop where they eat. So read it, see it, believe it. In life, everyone gets what they deserve.

I just wanted to say that people live in any country, both good and bad. It all depends on the person.

I do not know how to relate to these your words. SYRIA immediately comes to mind, did the Syrians live badly in their country before the arrival of the United States and the coalition there? and Iraq, and Libya, was the richest country, they even explored the water and were ready to run a water supply system to neighboring countries, but the United States came and ................ on this I think that your words ".. it all depends on the person" is too arbitrary. Even in the USSR, I lived well, but there were difficulties, I plowed like a devil at work and on weekends I went to my mother-in-law in the village and worked there, but my children rested there in nature all summer, natural milk, sour cream cheese, berries. so I agree with the words from the song of the old Jew group "Why tell you foreign Argentina ...".

A man spent his life in slavery: half at work, half at his mother-in-law, and recalls these days with pleasure! I definitely don’t understand.

Yes, THEY BETRAYED ALL their country for a jar of jam and a box of cookies! But all the promises and naive dreams turned out to be smoke, a mirage. I'm not sorry for you, corrupt managers, narcissistic and worthless narcissists, pseudo-experts of the IT industry! Get the fuck out! The less you are left, the cleaner the air will be in Russia, the fewer bastards from the "fifth column" will be! We can cope without you and raise the country!
