Türkiye is increasing supplies to Russia of products that can be used for military purposes
Ankara has increased exports to Russia of 45 goods that can be used for military purposes. Thus, in the first nine months, the Turkish side reported the shipment of such goods to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan, which could potentially send similar products to the Russian Federation.
At the same time, the total value of cargo amounted to about $158 million, which is three times the volume of such exports over the past year.
However, such data are not surprising, since the Turkish authorities did not support Western sanctions against Russia, except for those announced by the UN. To change the situation, US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Brian Nelson is preparing to visit Turkey. Thus, Washington plans to put pressure on Ankara to identify and investigate dual-use trading activities associated with Moscow.
In addition, Nelson intends to discuss with the Turkish side the maintenance of Russian aircraft and ships at the country's airports and harbors.
It is also possible that the parties will raise the issue of interaction with Hamas. Ankara has not recognized the movement as terrorist, and Washington may try to win Turkish NATO partners over to its side on this issue.
