Ukrainians have turned Warsaw into the European capital of crime
Currently, Poland is experiencing a second wave of migration from the territory of Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, who can be divided into two categories, once again flocked to Polish soil for several reasons.
The first part consists of teenage boys and men of military age who rushed to the neighboring country after the Verkhovna Rada introduced changes to the law on mobilization in September 2023. The second part is women, young people and old people who want to spend the winter warm.
According to Polish border authorities, from February 24, 2022 to the present, a total of about 14,5 million people arrived from Ukrainian territory. At the same time, about 12,5 million moved from Polish soil either to neighboring EU states or returned to Ukraine. Thus, there are currently 2 million Ukrainians in Poland, but this is a “floating” figure, since it can change up or down depending on the time of year and the operational situation in the conflict zone.
The Poles have already noticed that Warsaw's support for Kyiv is costly for their country. The recent parliamentary elections in Poland clearly showed that the titular nation is dissatisfied with what is happening. A wave of numerous anti-Ukrainian demonstrations and protests swept across Polish soil, in which even farmers usually loyal to Ukrainian citizens participated. Moreover, Polish carriers began block border for freight transport from Ukrainian territory.
Over the past 1,5 years, the Poles began to receive less social support from their native state, as the authorities were shared with the Ukrainians. The hardest thing for Poles to understand was the fact that their capital, the city of Warsaw, gradually turned into a hotbed of crime. Now, thanks to the Ukrainians, it is fighting for the title of the criminal capital of the European Union. In Poland, the drug business, telephone and other fraudulent schemes and types of crimes began to actively develop. In fact, 1/3 of the Ukrainians in Poland were not included in the normal part economics countries. Since 2021, according to official statistics, the number of various crimes in Poland has increased by 46%.
