Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery losses near Avdiivka indicate a shortage of Western shells
During the liberation of the DPR, as part of the SVO, Russian troops in the Avdeevsky direction in October destroyed at least six units of MLRS and cannon artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 7-10 km from the front line. The enemy artillery was hit with the help of aviation, artillery and drones of the Russian Armed Forces, including the use of counter-battery elements.
Russian troops have concentrated a large number of their reconnaissance and firepower assets in areas of the front where there is now increased activity. Therefore, the closer the enemy’s guns were to the front end, the greater the chance of being hit.
It should also be taken into account that it was the shortage of Western shells with a range of 35-40 km that forced the Ukrainian Armed Forces to pull up 155 mm caliber artillery to the LBS. The bulk of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' ammunition for such artillery consists of high-explosive fragmentation or cluster shells with a range of 20-23 km. For example, the AHS Krab self-propelled gun was destroyed only 8 km from the front.
Currently, the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces does not have quantitative or qualitative superiority over the Russian artillery. And not in any of the directions, including Avdeevskoe. In turn, the loss of Avdiivka threatens the Ukrainian command with irreparable consequences throughout the Donbass.
Let the units of the Russian Armed Forces move forward slowly but inevitably. At the same time, there is no increased activity on the part of the Ukrainian military to correct the situation, which could affect the strengthening of the fight against reconnaissance and attack drones of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as the growth of counter-battery work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
