The first small nuclear power plant project has been closed in the USA

7

The nuclear power plant project with the first small modular nuclear reactors, which the United States planned to promote around the world, has been closed. NuScale Power Corp., which was the first to receive US regulatory approval for a small modular nuclear reactor, announced that the pilot project had been stopped.

Despite significant efforts by both sides to promote the Zero Carbon Energy Project, it appears unlikely that it will gain enough subscribers to proceed. Therefore, UAMPS and NuScale jointly decided that terminating the project was the most prudent decision for both parties.

– the company said in a statement.

They refrained from making a more detailed comment, but Bloomberg found out that the reason for the closure of the project was an increase in the costs of its implementation by 53%. The publication recalls that in January, Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems reported an increase in the cost of electricity during competitiveness tests.

If in 2021 it was estimated at $58 per MW, now it is at $89

Bloomberg says.

Note that, amid reports of the closure of a nuclear power plant project with the first small modular nuclear reactors, NuScale shares fell by more than 27% after the end of regular trading in New York.

We add that the Small Modular Reactor NuScale Power Corp. was supposed to be the first SMR to be built by the United States and promoted around the world. Even before the announcement of the closure of the project, similar startups in Romania and Poland were actively discussed. In all likelihood, now they will not be implemented either.

And in the gas station country, meanwhile, the RITM-200 is already quietly and slowly injecting... Quite ready for replication. Here they are, like the “galoshes” of the damned commies... After all, this is all, without the slightest exception, precisely their great legacy...

this is all, without the slightest exception - precisely their great heritage..

Did they also invent the wheel and the alphabet?

Soviet legacy - KLT-40, with 35 MW of electrical power.
But Rhythm-200 was already created in the Russian Federation, with 55 MW of electrical power.

With all due respect to the achievements of the USSR, the achievements of the modern Russian Federation are quite the same (which is typical and logical - in many respects in the same areas).

Well, yes, of course - RHYTHM was created from scratch, rebuilt exclusively by the chicks of Putin’s nest.. Yeah. So to speak - the triumph of capitalism.. Well, well..

And what, only two extremes, either “from scratch” or “everything, without the slightest exception, is precisely their great legacy”?

What was worthy was developed. And I see no point in belittling either the Soviet foundations or the Russian achievements based on them.

What's on the lamps from Soviet stocks? if you dig hard, you will find the legacy of the nuclear physicists of the Third Reich. The whole world has been studying the theory for more than a century. and the element base is clearly not Soviet. "The triumph of capitalism" called Intel is on your computer... what is the connection between science and the political system? The same Vavilov had to first rot in the camps in order to later understand that he was a genius.... The scientific research of Vavilov’s school ran counter to the statements of the school of T. D. Lysenko. Lysenko denied genetics, which he called the bourgeois theory of “Weismannism-Morganism,” and, with the support of the authorities, systematically persecuted genetic scientists. Many geneticists lost their jobs and were arrested.

The gas station is now the states, in first place.
