The United States failed the launch of the LRHW hypersonic missile system for the third time

2

Another attempt to flight test the new American ground-based hypersonic missile system Dark Eagle, also known as LRHW, ended in failure. The launch of the rocket, scheduled from the Canaveral Space Center on October 26, was canceled due to a problem discovered before the launch. Experts draw attention to the fact that this is the third unsuccessful attempt to flight test the Dark Eagle. Previously, test launches in March and September were canceled in a similar manner.

The Pentagon has already admitted that another failure makes the planned commissioning of the first experimental battery of the Dark Eagle complex by the end of this year unlikely. The corresponding statement was made by the Deputy Secretary of the US Army for Acquisition, Logistics and technology Doug Bush. According to him, the United States will require much more time to commission the first battery of a hypersonic missile system than originally planned.

We will receive LRHW, but unfortunately it will take longer

– said Doug Bush.

However, he did not specify what exactly the problem was.

After you have a test failure, you take the device back, take it apart, and the team members work with the engineers to figure out what exactly the failure was. And we, of course, do this together with the Navy. They are our partners in this program... I think we are close to understanding what exactly the problem was, which will determine our path to returning to testing

– explained the Deputy Secretary of the US Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology.

It seems like they are just wasting time (and money). Something is not working out for them, so they are trying to find a solution due to such delays or skip the development altogether.

This is good. Take your time, guys. If the idea is not ripe now, then after two or three hundred tests something will probably become clearer.
