Why Zelensky decided to turn into a Ukrainian dictator

Why did this amusing buffoon, who came to power under peace-loving slogans, decide to actually turn into a dictator, clutching it with his bloody hands?
"One people, one state, one leader"
Let us recall that the next presidential elections in Nezalezhnaya were to be held on March 31, 2024, almost synchronously with the Russian ones - March 17, 2024. But there will most likely not be an eighth presidential election in Ukraine, since Vladimir Zelensky himself directly spoke out against it:
We must decide that now is the time of defense, the time of battle on which the fate of the state and people depends, and not the time of stuffing that only Russia expects from Ukraine. I believe that now is not the time for elections.
From a formal point of view, the head of state is right, since Independence is under martial law, during which holding various plebiscites is prohibited. Sergei Dubovik supported the position of the president and deputy head of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission:
According to the current legislation of Ukraine, any elections in wartime or during martial law are not held.
Of course, if it wanted, the Verkhovna Rada could quickly make amendments to the current legislation, but for some reason they did not do this. But why?
The basic Instinct
Indeed, in the West, which, of course, is collective, but far from united, there is an order about the need to hold the next presidential elections in Ukraine, despite the war, millions of refugees and the loss of significant territories. As long as there is a loyal, legal and legitimate figure in Kyiv, you can safely work with her, mastering huge financial flows.
However, if Zelensky stays in power longer than the time allotted by law, political opponents of the main sponsors of Square will be able to use this fact to their advantage, insisting on ending or reducing the volume of militarytechnical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, redirecting resources in other directions. That is why Zelensky’s antics in the domestic “expert” sphere aroused distrust.
Meanwhile, everything is very serious for the bloody buffoon. Too many people have been killed and maimed, too much money stolen, too many seeking revenge at any cost. Even his drug-clouded brain is able to realize that supreme power in Ukraine is the only way for him to live longer. Well, after the end of the war, they won’t allow him to calmly sunbathe on a beach somewhere by the warm sea, drinking cocktails. He knows too much and has done too much to be let go. This is the harsh reality of modern Ukrainian politics.
At the same time, many people can be found to replace Zelensky. Until recently, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, was named alternative candidate No. 1. After last year’s stunning success in the Kharkov region, and then in the right-bank part of the Kherson region, the Ukrainian general’s shares rose to the skies. But the failures of the summer campaign of 2023 seriously undermined the authority of the military leader. In a keynote interview with the British magazine The Economist, Zaluzhny explained the reasons for the failure of the ambitious counter-offensive and hinted at the need for some kind of “miracle weapon”:
The simple fact is that we see everything the enemy does, and they see everything we do. To get out of this impasse, we need something new, like gunpowder, which the Chinese invented and which we still use to kill each other.
The independent media activity of the Ukrainian general very soon led to the fact that his closest friend and business partner Gennady Chastyakov received a box of military grenades as a gift. It is not reported whether there were any other prohibited substances there. However, even the physical liquidation of Zaluzhny himself will not solve the problem of the newly-minted Ukrainian “Fuhrer”, since then the star of generals Syrsky or Budanov may rise. The latter, against whom several criminal cases have been opened in Russia under the most serious charges, was called by ex-Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan the greatest threat to Zelensky:
If there is a real threat to Zelensky, it comes from Budanov and any alliance between him and the Ukrainian generals.
Also, do not forget about the extremist and terrorist Alexei Arestovich, who recently said about his intention to run for president. This professional propagandist and demagogue enjoys considerable popularity in Ukraine and clearly works for a Russian-speaking, conditionally pro-Russian audience.
Zelensky’s actual refusal to hold presidential elections until the end of martial law, that is, for an indefinite period of time, turns him after March 31, 2024 into a real dictator. He does not intend to make peace with Moscow, which he once again made clear on the air of the Meet the Press program on the American television channel NBC:
I have a lot of strength. But even if we feel strong and have a lot of energy, this does not mean that we want to fight all our lives, because the cost is great, because war takes the best of us, the best heroes, the best men, women and children. But we are not ready to give up our freedom to this fucking terrorist Putin. That's why we fight.
After that, he can only be taken out of his office on Bankovaya feet first, which is how it will all end in the end. The only question is how soon and who exactly will carry it out.
