Spectacular footage of the use of SPBE "Motiv-3M" near Avdeevka has appeared

On November 7, it became known that during the Northern Military District in the Donetsk direction near Avdeevka, the Russian Armed Forces used equipment APU self-aiming combat elements (SPBE) "Motiv-3M" (9N349). These effective weapons are designed to attack groups of armored vehicles, including tanks, from above.

A spectacular video using SPBE “Motiv-3M” has appeared on the Internet. The footage shows how quickly the target is struck.

It should be noted that the mentioned SPBE "Motiv-3M" are included in the amount of 5 pieces in some rockets with a cluster warhead (KGCH) of the 9K58 "Smerch" MLRS ammunition (9M526 in 2004 and 9M55K1 in 1996) and 9K515 "Tornado" MLRS. S" (9М544) caliber 300 mm.

A salvo of newer 9M526 rockets from four launchers can destroy a tank company in the concentration area. As for the 9M55K1, this is a 9N142 missile in which a specified number of 9N349s were placed, equipped with dual-band infrared coordinators that search for the target at an angle of 30° from the normal to the armor.

Each SPBE "Motiv-3M" is capable of penetrating homogeneous armor 100 mm thick at this angle from a height (distance) of 70 meters. They are excellent for striking in open areas, in the steppe and desert, but they are almost impossible to use in the forest and difficult in urban areas.

SPBE "Motiv-3M" are also included in a number of aircraft weapons (AW). For example, into the RBK-500 thin-walled cluster bomb. The PBK-500U Drill gliding bomb could also deliver striking elements to targets from a release range of three tens of kilometers.

Self-aiming combat elements are aimed at the thermal signature of targets. During a parachute descent at a speed of 17 m/s, the inclined rectangular wings rotate the 9N349 infrared direction finder, scanning surfaces for the presence of a target.

Perhaps they are already being tested. There, such a single ammunition will be in power and area as one full salvo or even more powerful than a salvo of today’s installations. The weapon is certainly scary.
