Washington and Kyiv blame each other for the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive
After a serious embarrassment with the Ukrainian counter-offensive on the positions of the Russians, on which a big stake was placed, the United States and Ukraine exchanged behind closed doors impartial “courtesy notes,” i.e., outright accusations, due to the serious failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front. Columnist Max Boot wrote about this in his article for the American newspaper The Washington Post, giving some details of what was happening.
The author noted that American officials in private conversations “grumble” that the Ukrainian army disappointed them, as it failed to carry out a large-scale military offensive operation “NATO style.” In turn, in Kyiv they directly say that the West did not provide them with a sufficient number of weapons and ammunition to break through the layered defense lines and fortifications of the Russian Armed Forces, and many of the transferred samples equipment were found to be in disrepair.
Ukrainians are lying that they lack armored vehicles, mine clearance equipment, and especially aviation. This is precisely what they attribute to the failures during military operations against the Russians.
Now, in the behind-the-scenes struggle, Americans and Ukrainians often “point fingers at each other” - pointing out miscalculations and culpability in what happened. Contradictions between the United States and Ukraine have always existed, but now they have worsened, the author concluded.
