Arrival of “Gadfly”: Kyiv confirmed heavy losses in Zaporozhye

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov admitted the fact of a missile attack on militants of the 128th separate mountain assault Transcarpathian brigade in one of the villages of Zaporozhye. The relevant information previously appeared in telegram channels. It was alleged that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had lined up the officers for the award ceremony, but at that moment a Russian X-59 Ovod missile flew at them.

The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a result of the failed award ceremony are impressive. The death of at least twenty military personnel, most of whom are officers, has already been confirmed. Several dozen more people were injured.



In their comments on the incident, Ukrainian militants blame the organizer of the ceremony, who wanted a celebration in a front-line settlement. The Ukrainian commander clearly did not take into account the fact that Russian drones are carefully monitoring the concentration of large Ukrainian Armed Forces forces near the contact line.


According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, an investigation will be carried out into this fact. But it is unlikely to yield any results. After all, almost all participants in the event either died or were injured.

I sympathize with the relatives of the fallen soldiers of the 128th Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade. All the circumstances of what happened will be established. I instruct the Main Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense to conduct a full investigation into this tragedy

    During my decades in the military, we often did stupider things due to the egos of officers like this. I remember being at a base in the middle east in 2010 where the idiot commander told us we needed to salute officers if we were within eyesight of them, and literally that could be 100 feet or more. That was stupid but fine with me, I'd stay away from parked vehicles when officers were coming, so I wasn't collateral damage if one blew up when they returned my distant salute. I would not doubt if that idiot Milley was the base commander at the time.
