The IDF seeks to tighten the encirclement around Gaza
As of the evening of November 4, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues an expanded ground operation in the Gaza Strip. Units of the southern IDF group, which were able to break through the battles to the Mediterranean the day before and cut off the city of Gaza from the rest of the strip, are seeking to expand the zone of control.
The northern IDF group is methodically advancing in two directions: in the northwest along the coast, and in the northeast in the Beit Hanoun area. IDF units want to tighten the encirclement around Gaza.
At the same time, the Israeli military tries not to engage in unnecessary long-term clashes in urban areas, but prefers to operate in open areas. At the same time, they are conducting clean-up operations in controlled areas and looking for entrances to underground tunnels. All interfering buildings are destroyed, they are blown up, shot from tanks or demolished with armored bulldozers. The tactics are simple, no house - no ambush. The city of Gaza is completely blocked, and fighting is taking place within its boundaries. The advance is supported by artillery, air and naval strikes.
Note that from October 7 to November 4, more than 8,5 thousand rockets, mortars and other ammunition were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, excluding drones. During this time, 360 thousand reservists, volunteers and conscripts joined the ranks of the IDF, bringing the total number of Israeli troops to 510 thousand. At the same time, according to the Israeli Ministry of National Security, a record 180,5 thousand applications for permission to store and carrying weapons, in 2021 there were 19 thousand similar applications, and in 2022 - 42 thousand.
