Again failed to defeat the Russians: What ended the largest NATO exercises

8
It is somehow imperceptible against the backdrop of all recent events related to the Great Tsushima battle that was raging in the Kerch Strait, ending with the rout and capture of half of the Ukrainian fleet, and directly related to this event, the cancellation of the summit of the US and Russian leaders that was scheduled in Buenos Aires, and who also nearly died in a plane crash flying to this summit and was forced to change her board No. 1 for Iberia’s regular flight, Frau Merkel, as well as the suddenly died 41st US President George W. Bush (senior), , Somehow unnoticed against the background of all this have been the largest in the last 27 years (since the Cold War) NATO military exercises «Trident Juncture-2018" ended their sudden and complete failure.

I’m not joking at all, gentlemen, it’s just not customary for our sworn friends to shout loudly, especially since there is nothing to brag about there, however, the largest military exercises of the North Atlantic Alliance since 1991, in which they practiced an attack on Norway, 53 thousand. military personnel from 29 NATO member countries, along with Sweden, Finland, Australia, Jordan, Georgia and Ukraine, who joined them on this occasion, have not yet joined this block (what did Jordan forget in the North Atlantic, did I understand? ), involving 250 aircraft, 70 ships and approx About 10 thousand land vehicles brought from all over Great Britain, North America, continental Europe and Scandinavia showed all the unprepared power of the united coalition. Yes, such that in the foreseeable future we really have nothing to fear. You won’t believe it, and the NATO four-star generals also couldn’t believe it, but the exercises ended in the complete victory of the conditional enemy (and who have you forgotten their opponent yet?), For which this time the American, Canadian and Swedish “Bobby” (marines), who routed the united, selected NATO units defending the Norwegian coast (against conditional Russian aggression). How this could happen is being sorted out in Brussels, and I will tell only some details of this epic trash called “One Trident-2018”.

The Russian adapted version of the name sounds like “Full Scribe-2018” and, in full accordance with the name, the teachings were accompanied by such scandals, which Brussels generals whitened with noble gray hair and bronze tan will remember for a long time to come. The Turks were the first to set a bad example. No sooner had the exercises begun, then Turkish President Recep Erdogan with a scandal recalled all of his troops taking part in them. So, I'm not joking! All 40 people !! I don’t laugh, that’s how much the second largest NATO army posed to participate in these large-scale maneuvers. And the reason for this was more than sufficient in the manuals distributed to all participants in the exercises, for some reason, the Turkish Republic was among the main enemies of NATO, and personally its founder and first president Kemal Ataturk and its current head, Recep Erdogan, who were named among the main enemies of the Alliance, along with Putin, Ayatollah Khamenei and Kim Jong-un, who got their teeth on edge. The impulsive sultan could not stand such rudeness! “We saw everything at the NATO exercises. But not that! There are some mistakes that are made not by fools, but by villains! ” - Erdogan, insulted in his best feelings, said in his hearts, not accepting an apology from NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. “There are questions that cannot be closed by simple apologies!” - Erdogan snapped, and one could hear Stoltenberg, who shot himself in shame, fell. So, having not yet begun the teachings, the Alliance has already suffered significant losses.

They could not be compensated even by Germany, which had assigned 8,5 thousand military personnel and almost 4 thousand military units to them equipment (I don’t understand - are they there, that they were two in tanks sitting?). It must be said that this was the entire combat-ready part of the Bundeswehr, and the Federal Republic of Germany for the period of the exercises remained practically without protection in front of the Putin hordes. Where did Putin look at this time, I don’t know ?! He could take Berlin with his bare hands. But he didn’t. But in vain! Less questions would be about the Nord Stream, well, the Russian Federation is pulling it from one part to another, so what? Who should care? But all this, of course, was a joke, but the Norwegians were no longer up to them when, at the end of the active phase of the exercises, on November 8, their frigate Helge Ingstadt sank, colliding with the Sola TS tanker during maneuvering in the fog (and although the tanker for the excuse was sailing under the Maltese flag, but it couldn’t do without the Russians, there have already been accusations that Putin “turned off” the Norwegians all navigation, which contributed to the clash. Delirium, tell me? But people believe!). This happened near the Haakonsvern naval base in Bergen. At the same time, eight crew members were injured, the entire team was removed from the ship, which, in order to avoid flooding, was washed ashore, which, however, did not save him from going under water. It was a bold cross, which summed up all the teachings. But I promised to tell about all the jambs, and the drowned frigate was far from the only, albeit the loudest.

According to the plan, the northern and central parts of Norway, the adjacent areas of the North Atlantic, including Iceland, the Danish Straits of the Baltic Sea, the Norwegian and North Seas, and also the airspace over Sweden and Finland were chosen as the venue for the exercises from October 25 to November 7. And this, I must say, was done for a reason. It was not particularly hidden that the exercises were held with the aim of containing a probable enemy in Europe (and you have not forgotten who our enemy is). Containment is a key function of NATO. With the help of large-scale exercises, the alliance was going to demonstrate its abilities to maintain military-political authority. But as a result, he only dropped it.

According to the legend of the exercises, NATO conducted a large-scale military operation to liberate the illegally occupied part of the territory of Norway. “Aggressor” was a certain fictional country “Murinus” (translated from Latin as “spider”, read the Russian Federation). The soldiers of the advancing army of Murinus, or “Forces of the North,” were portrayed by servicemen from the Norwegian, Canadian, and Swedish brigades, as well as the Marines of the American Expeditionary Force. From the sea, the grouping was supported by the ships of the Navy of Canada, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Great Britain and the USA. To do this, they even attracted an aircraft carrier strike group led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Harry Truman (CVN 75, class Nimitz), which has not been shown in these latitudes since the Cold Wave, for which he even had to cross the conventional Arctic Circle in the waters of the Norwegian Sea , i.e. geographically find himself in the Arctic (and this is the area of responsibility of the newly created US Navy 24nd Fleet on August 2018, 2). This was the first appearance of US Navy aircraft carriers in Arctic waters over the past 30 years.

The powerful “Murinus” aggression was unitedly opposed by the combined “forces of the South”, represented by marines from Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Turkey (before the demarche of Erdogan), Finland, France and Sweden. The militia was portrayed by the Norwegian National Guard, and from the water they were supported by two NATO naval groups (SNMG1 and SNMG2), a group of mine minesweepers (SNMCMG1), plus a Dutch naval amphibious group.

The parade was commanded by American Admiral James Foggo. Moreover, being in Italy. You will laugh, but this is indeed so, since the Mediterranean command and staff component of it was chosen as the headquarters structure for organizing and managing exercises in the northern Arctic country. Admiral Foggo, the commander of the exercises, is the commander of the U.S. Navy in Europe and Africa. In combination, he stands at the head of the Joint Command of the Allied Forces, located in Naples (Italy). The admiral watched exercises from the USS “Mount Whitney”, the flagship of the 2008th US fleet, based in the Italian port of Gaet, familiar to the Russians in the 6 military crisis. And while the Dutch, Slovenes and other Spaniards were bent from the cold, the US Navy admiral was dying from the heat.

Moreover, I'm not joking about the cold at all. As luck would have it, in these days 15-degree frosts hit (well, who would have thought - in the north, at the beginning of November), and the Dutch, who did not take winter ammunition and bought it in local stores, and Slovenes, frightening whites bears with green tents, specially taken, probably, for unmasking, not to mention the heat-loving Spaniards, threatened by arms refusing to leave their cars and having sat all the exercises in them, in their own skin learned what “Russian frosts” were, by the number of frostbite overtaking the troops Paulus to Stalingra battle of the skies. Which only confirmed the fact that the lessons of the German winter company of 1942 by European generals have not yet been learned.

But the “combat” losses of the Alliance did not end there. If the Dutch, Slovenes, and Spaniards were beaten out by “not childish” frosts, the British mechanized convoy was completely disarmed by the Norwegian quarantine service, which demanded that all the remnants of British soil be removed from the wheels and tracks of overburdened shaving in order to avoid phytobiological infection of the Norwegian territory. You will not believe, the exercises have already ended, and the Britons still continued to fight with the Norwegian quarantine service. The Royal Armed Forces have not known such a shame since the 1944 Ardennes failure operation. But what the Norwegian quarantine service was afraid of, it was not possible to avoid while it was successfully fighting the British mechanized brigade, the remaining representatives of the Allied armies literally dirtied the whole territory of Norway. Part of the blame for this lies with the host side itself, which did not provide the required number of dry closets, but no one could have suggested that the Norwegian frost would develop such a “bearish disease” among those who had come to the war. The products of the half-life of their mighty organisms, they practically contaminated the entire territory of this small, clean (before that) European country. Moreover, the army did not disdain at the same time neither playgrounds, nor sports facilities, to the extent that they celebrated little and great need right on the streets, in front of the dumbfounded by such townspeople (some at the same time became heroes of Instagram).

And if you think that the problems are over, then you are deeply mistaken. These were still flowers. Berries went later. At the stage of deployment and extension, it suddenly became clear that the bridges are not suitable for carrying capacity, the height of overpasses is insufficient, and in some places modern NATO equipment does not fit into the roads even in width. And this is on the excellent roads of Denmark, Norway and Sweden (how they are going to fight with us, I don’t even know ?!). Faced with this, the Britons were forced to admit that if their marching companies could reach the right place at least within a day, then this could already be considered a huge achievement. Needless to say, all this was accompanied by many emergency situations, incidents and ridiculous accidents. NATO during the exercise period broke all records in the number of accidents and accidents. So only in the process of preparing and conducting the field phase of the maneuvers from August to November 7 inclusive, NATO and the Norwegian Armed Forces received 412 reports of incidents that damaged the country's environment and infrastructure, as well as 51 complaints from the local population. In particular, 30 accidents occurred with military and civilian equipment.

So, on October 23, a convoy of American military trucks gathered in an “accordion” on the border between the communes of Tudal and Roerus. Car drivers could not stand the distance when driving in a convoy on an icy track, and the three cars clutched with a “train”. Four more, trying to avoid a collision, flew into a ditch and rolled over. Four US troops were seriously injured, two of them even had to be evacuated by helicopter. Traffic on the highway was blocked for several hours. But then it was just the beginning. A few hours later, an army SUV rammed a passenger bus in the village of Glomos. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the bus driver still suffered.

Norwegian public transport suffered another loss in the "road war" with NATO technology on November 3. Three Swedish Pansarterrangbil-360 armored cars flew to the side of the road near Easterfossen Waterfall in Hedmark County due to the driver of the head vehicle losing control and hooked a civilian bus in the oncoming lane. Four servicemen were hospitalized with injuries. The bus was seriously damaged, but there were no casualties. Nevertheless, they could not be avoided. On the evening of November 9, Ober State Staff Corporal of the 5th company of the 232nd Bundeswehr mountain rifle battalion was killed on the highway in Hultolen. According to Norwegian media, a passenger car shot down a soldier in the dark when he ran across the road (Putin’s agent was probably driving while he confessed, but the authorities were working with him, it’s possible that this is another GRU agent, the British are already checking him involvement in the poisoning of the Skripals).

In addition to all kinds of accidents and accidents, the Trident Juncture-2018 exercises will be remembered for numerous breakdowns and malfunctions of military equipment. Even at the stage of preparation for them, on October 17, the French multi-purpose helicopter NH90 TTH crashed when taking off from the Desmud helicopter carrier. The incident occurred 130 kilometers from the city of Dunkirk. The ship followed to Norway, but made history. Details were not disclosed, it is only known that the NH90 TTH made a hard landing. The crew was not injured, but 4 sailors on the deck were injured. One was hospitalized in serious condition.

A week later, on October 24, the Americans were already bound. The landing ship dock “Gunston Hall” of the US Navy could not get around the stormy front in the Norwegian Sea and, as they say, was no longer in history, but in an accident. Due to the strong rolling and powerful impact of waves in the hold, the 140-ton LCU 1610 landing boat fell off the fasteners. It was thrown from side to side, as a result of which the hold and structural elements of the ship were seriously damaged. Dozens of crew members and marines were injured. It was not possible to troubleshoot the site, and Gunston Hall was sent to Reykjavik escorted by another ship. This happened the day before the official opening of the exercises. This was the first loss of the “northern”, as a result of which only two landing ships instead of three went to storm the “southern”, which, however, did not prevent them from easily truncating the deeply echeloned defense of the “southern” and went to their rear. This was facilitated by the "highest level of cohesion" of the enemy, where the Slovenian battalion under the command of the Italian command of the Italian army corps as part of the Spanish mechanized brigade repelled the attack of the conditional "Russians" portrayed by the Americans. It was then that it turned out that the communication equipment of the defenders did not coincide in frequency, the subordinates did not hear their commanders, the commanders did not hear the subordinates, and so they had to act at their own peril and risk out of the real situation and without communication with their command. How it ended, you already know. Somewhere the Red Army also acted at the beginning of the war, in the summer and fall of 1941.

It was on land, but at sea everything was not glory to God. With an interval of 3 days, two emergencies occurred on the ships of the Canadian Navy, which took part in the exercises. On October 26, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Halifax multi-purpose frigate, the lead in the eponymous series of 12 pennants. One of the two gas turbine installations of the ship was slightly damaged, but the crew managed to locate and extinguish the fire on time. And on October 29, the twin ship Halifax frigate Toronto drifted off the coast of Britain. Due to the breakdown of one of the electrical installations, the ship was completely de-energized. The team eliminated the damage. To the honor of the Canadian sailors who showed excellent training, both frigates later joined the main squadron. About the sad fate of the Norwegian frigate Helge Ingstadt, I have already said above. The place of the shipwreck is cordoned off when an operation is planned to lift it and tow it to the port, is not yet known.

In fairness, we still need to admit that the NATO military courageously overcame all the troubles that fell on them. As Jens Stoltenberg said, “even the frost didn’t lose their temper, they quickly replaced all the broken parts of the broken equipment with 3D analogues printed on camping 3D printers.” The NATO Secretary General did not specify how reliably the ersatz details behaved in the cold and whether they passed all the necessary certification. Here, I must say, we have something to learn from them.

Сonclusion

The largest NATO exercises since the Cold War ended at a high technical, moral and political level. And although the Russians didn’t come to this “war” yet again (although they thwarted its aviation part in the skies over Finland, vilely using their EW Divnomorye, Krasuha and Murmansk-BN for this), this Brussels strategists did not stop them from “defeating”, and at the same time get by with minimal losses in manpower and equipment. No, these teachings will not be included in the textbooks of military art, as an example of military skill, but will forever remain a clear example of how not to fight. They failed to defeat the Russians again, and the American marines won their main victory not in the snowy fields of Norway, but in the pubs of Reykjavik, where in just a couple of days they won a complete and unconditional victory over the beer stocks of the Icelandic capital, thereby causing irreparable damage to its inhabitants.

That's all for now! Review completed. I’m waiting for the next such exercises no sooner than 30 years later (I think it will already be the Russian-Chinese-Indian exercises on the Russian-Mexican border).

Not everything is so great. Americans in the exercises, just showed their skills and skills, they fought for conditional Russians. And the fact that Europeans have forgotten how to fight, we already knew. They will plug holes and bind our hands, if that. Do not underestimate the enemy. He is in full gear for war with us. War is only a matter of time.

And by the way, we will not tell anyone about shameful teachings in Belarus. Where the helicopters fired at their own, the planes landed past the strip - this is a big secret.

Problems of this kind also existed in the USSR at the end of its existence. "I will win everyone" swoops and disregard for the instructions, which were written in blood, NOW struck NATO too ... can we also fall apart? ... although it is unlikely ... until the big boss collapses under his monstrous duty ...
