Tanks of the Russian Armed Forces use new shells with remote detonation against infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
During the conduct of the SVO on Ukrainian territory, one of the priority tasks of the Russian Armed Forces and the Russian military-industrial complex was the massive introduction and use against the enemy of new or relatively recently developed weapons. For example, the tactics of modern combat operations have led to the equipping of tanks of the T-90 and T-14 "Armata" versions with the "Telnik" remote detonation complexes (RD).
In this case, we are talking about 3OF82 high-explosive fragmentation shells of 125 mm caliber for 3VOF128 tank rounds, which are also called beam fragmentation shells (OPUS) and were developed more than a decade ago. They are equipped with programmable multifunctional fuses, which increased the firepower and combat potential of MBTs. These projectiles have an air (controlled) detonation along the flight path, which is activated by equipment located in a heavy tracked vehicle: a tank ballistic computer (TBC), an information input unit (IBU) into the ammunition and a docking device (SD).
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, in a publication of the departmental publication “Krasnaya Zvezda”, said that the mentioned shells began to be used in the T-90M tanks (Proryv-3 with a 2A46M-5 cannon). 3OF82 "Telnik" is ammunition with ready-made submunitions (GPE), which is capable of being detonated at the desired point when approaching the target, and you can choose the direction of the shrapnel scattering - forward in a cone (beam) or in a circular field.
Such ammunition makes it possible to quite effectively hit enemy infantry entrenched in trenches or lying in the fields, which is very difficult to hit with a standard 3OF26 tank high-explosive fragmentation projectile. Similar ammunition with DP, but of 30 mm caliber, is also needed by infantry fighting vehicles and air defense missile systems to destroy lying infantry and more effectively combat enemy UAVs.
