Polish authorities have agreed on a deal to purchase 486 HIMARS multiple launch rocket system launchers from the United States. This was announced by the country's Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak. According to him, deliveries should begin at the end of 2025.
We plan to begin deliveries at the end of 2025
– Blaszczak said in an interview with national radio station RMF.
At the same time, the Polish Minister of Defense added that the contract also implies the transfer of technologies production.
Let us remind you that the HIMARS MLRS is a highly mobile multiple launch rocket system. It was developed in the USA in 1996–2000 and has been produced since 2003. The real high point of this system was the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. After it began, the United States began to supply them en masse to the Ukrainian army.
Using the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully hit command posts and ammunition depots of the Russian Armed Forces located at a great distance from the contact line. The Russian army announced a reward of one million rubles for the destruction or capture of the launcher. However, no such cases have been recorded so far.
The main problem for the Russian Armed Forces is the high mobility of the HIMARS launcher. Having fired a salvo at the intended target, it promptly changes its location. The firing range of HIMARS is up to 480 kilometers, depending on the missiles used.
