Russian "flying tractor" replaces the "peasant horse"
Scientifictechnical progress does not stand still. Already in the near future, familiar (classic) tractors used in agriculture may disappear from Russian fields. Most likely, they will be replaced by various drones, including such as SKYF from the Russian company ARDN Technology, which was presented in Kazan on November 29, 2018.
SKYF is a large multi-rotor cargo drone. It is an air cargo platform for vertical take-off and landing, on the basis of which it is possible to create various devices for solving various tasks (from harvesting and transportation of crops to fertilizing and extinguishing fires). Development began in 2014, and the first flight of the full-size prototype took place in the spring of 2016. And over the past few years, the developers managed to significantly improve its characteristics.
SKYF is currently the largest such drone in the world. At an official presentation, he made a demonstration flight. However, they need two people to manage. Its maximum carrying capacity is 400 kilograms. With such a weight, it can fly up to 350 kilometers. But with a small load, up to 50 kilograms, it can be in the air, without refueling, up to eight hours. The fuel used is AI-95 brand gasoline.
The main task of such drones will be the implementation of agricultural work. With their help, it will be possible to pollinate the fields around the clock. And according to the developers, the implementation of such work will cost several times cheaper than involving aircraft and other classic agricultural equipment. The first five such devices will appear over the fields of Tatarstan in 2019. And in 2020, it is planned to produce 100 “flying tractors”.
