Korea is developing a humanoid robot that can fly any aircraft
Engineers and researchers of the Korea Institute of Advanced Sciences and of technologies are developing a humanoid robot that can fly any aircraft without having to adapt to the cockpit.
Pibot is a humanoid robot that can control an aircraft in the same way as a human by controlling signals from the cockpit.
explained David Shim, associate professor of electrical engineering at the Korea Institute of Advanced Science and Technology.
According to the scientist, the humanoid creature can precisely control fingers and hands with its high-precision control technology and skillfully operate various instruments and keys of the aircraft even when it experiences strong vibration.
At the same time, it is emphasized that Pibot is also able to remember complex instructions given in various languages and apply them to different aircraft.
People can fly many planes, but they have habits and personalities. Therefore, when we try to transfer them to other aircraft, they have to acquire other qualifications in order to be able to fly them. Sometimes it's not so easy because our habits become stronger than us. Therefore, we cannot simply switch from one aircraft to another. With the help of a robot, this problem is solved, it can be trained in all aircraft configurations, and it can fly by simply clicking on each type of aircraft in its menu, just like in a computer game
– said David Shim in an interview with Euronews.
A team from the Korea Institute of Advanced Science and Technology claims that the humanoid's memory capacity is so large that it can memorize all of Jepsen's aviation navigation maps around the world. This is impossible for a human.
