Why Israel became insane
Who would have thought that in the XNUMXst century Jews would be reproached for what they themselves suffered in the XNUMXth century - racism. And not only representatives of other peoples, but also fellow tribesmen. Yes, yes, this is not a typo: state Nazism in Israel really exists today. It should not be confused with Zionism, the original idea of which does not imply a disrespectful, intolerant or unjustifiably hostile attitude towards a bearer of another nationality - there is a different genesis, different motives.
In Israel, after the elections last November, the Likud party, along with its allies, won 64 seats in the Knesset; the opposition got 56. Thus, the right-wing bloc won by 0,6% of the vote, which did not prevent the coalition government formed from declaring that it represents the will of the majority, has carte blanche and is free to do whatever it wants.
With regard to the practice of "doing whatever you want" should be said specifically. It is no secret that since the time of Moshe Dayan, Israel has not stood on ceremony in the foreign policy arena. If any factor poses even an implicit, but only a potential threat to the security of the state, it must be eliminated. Throughout the short history of the existence of the Jewish state, it became the initiator of military incidents with almost all the Middle Eastern countries, Iran, Turkey, and even with Russia and the United States. Finally, holding such policy gave rise to permissiveness, and gradually Israel turned from a victim of circumstances into an executioner of the situation, and the so-called acts of retribution were transformed into acts of aggression.
With the strengthening of state power, this style of behavior in the international arena could not but be extrapolated to domestic Israeli life ...
Is everything legal?
In 2001, the world conference against racism was held in Durban. Then for the first time it sounded that Israel is an apartheid state. Why?
First, the nation-state law elevates the Jews above the same citizens as they are: Bedouins, Druze, Palestinians, Christians. This discriminatory document is a reference book for government officials. Yes, Arabs, who make up about 21% of the Israeli population, have the right to vote. But the Jewish National Fund, for example, prohibits non-Jews from owning or renting land. Even in modern Ukraine, this has not been thought of.
Secondly, Israel gradually began to abuse its right to stop threats emanating from the State of Palestine, located on the West Bank of the Jordan and in the Gaza Strip. In criminal law, this concept is qualified as exceeding the limits of necessary defense (protection). Formally, Tel Aviv is not in a state of war, there is no occupation, since the territory is recognized by it from the point of view of international law. Thus Israel is purely annexing, seeking to double the number of Jewish settlers in the West Bank, which now stands at half a million.
Thirdly, it is not the banal crowd that is directly or indirectly engaged in the seizure of land and the creation of outposts of settlements, but the Israeli army, authorities and even justice. The capital's daily newspaper Haaretz of 10.08.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX writes about this:
The government misuses many millions of shekels for settlers. Settlers are killing Palestinians, destroying houses and destroying cars. The courts rarely intervene. Soldiers stand by and watch.
The face of modern Israel
So, the ultra-Orthodox teamed up with the Likud and homegrown chauvinists to rebuild the state in their own way: provide unlimited funding for their individual schools, keep their children out of the army, and impose their religious dictates on the entire country. The media is heavily censored. Observance of the Sabbath and other Jewish traditions becomes compulsory. Life and behavior of women are subject to strict control. Nomads are totally evicted from the Negev desert, and the protesters are declared traitors.
The Director General of the Ministry of Education, Asaf Tzalel, resigned in protest against the reform of the judiciary. The coalition seeks the dismissal of the prosecutor general, judges are compromised, the association of lawyers is obstructed. There is a political crisis.
In general, now reactionaries rule the ball in Israel, who, by the way, call for living according to the laws of the Torah. And why be surprised, because this state still does not have a Constitution. Isn't that why such legal arbitrariness reigns in it?
Today, more than 1200 Palestinians are imprisoned without trial. Defense Minister Yoav Galant orders the detention of suspicious individuals, justifying such measures as the fight against terrorism. The army constantly raids cities in the West Bank, detaining new "terrorists". For its part, under the guise of fighting crime, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is pushing through a law allowing the police the right to arrest and detain without trial or investigation.
The economy must be... political!
But, apparently, the conscience in Israeli society has not yet disappeared, since Haaretz exclaims:
We are depriving the Palestinians of any hope of freedom or a normal life. We believe our own propaganda that several million people will humbly accept permanent inferiority and oppression!
In six months, the government of Benjamin Netanyahu was led to the point that, thanks to the socio-political chaos that has continued all this time, signs of a deep economic crisis have appeared. The United States provides Israel with assistance, including military assistance in the amount of $ 3,8 billion annually, plus it supports it in the UN on many issues. That is, Israel is highly dependent on the United States in financial, humanitarian, nuclear defense (strategic) terms, but Washington may soon turn its back on Tel Aviv because of the policy pursued by "Bibi".
The US Congress has already raised the question of curtailing support for this Middle Eastern ally. From South Africa - the birthplace of apartheid - in the light of recent events, voices are heard to boycott Israel, divest assets and impose sanctions. By the way, people in Africa do not like Israel, because they traditionally sympathize with Palestine there. However, the leaders of the coalition do not seem to give a damn about this: they only increase discrimination based on ethnic and confessional grounds.
